Bronze Bull and Chibi Clockwork Pony

Recommended Posts

I wasn't great about taking a bunch of pics along the way so far, but here are what I have:

Both minis got a soap bath with warm water, Dawn dish soap, and a good scrub with a toothbrush. Once dry, I primed the pony with Reaper's Brush on Primer - which I had to scrub off with soap and reprime three or four times before it would not bead up. Then they both got a coat of Brown Liner:

As you can see, I picked out a 30mm base for the pony. I haven't dug through my bases yet for the bull.

I then hit them with a blotchy coat of Ancient Bronze, then Lava Orange, and then Bloodstain Red.

I am trying to post more things to my G+ feed so I can repost here, but I am struggling getting image links that the forum will use. Any tips? All solved now. Thanks!

What I do is go to the pic in my album, click on it to open it, right click "open image in new tab" then copy the URL and paste that URL into the Forum via the "Image Link" (little green box on the tools area above the text area here). Just have to make sure that it ends in .jpg and it'll work fine on the forum itself. Or I'll download from google to my PC and just go to "more reply options" and make it an attachment.

I tried that and was not having luck with the links coming with jpg at the end. Your post gave me the idea to try and add it manually, and it worked!

My wife says that the pony needs terminator eyes. Looks like black with red dots is likely for the future of that one.

As for the bull, it won't fit on a 2" round base and I only have one 2" square base (that doesn't really fit thematically). I may just leave it alone for now.

I got a flat wooden disc from michael's for mine. it fits nicely.

Yours inspired me to paint this one first. Not sure on going with a larger round base, though. I use my minis for gaming on a 1" grid (and this will likely be used as a gorgon). I do have a square 2" dungeon floor base from the Reaper Swag Bag, but I am torn on using it or not.

A bit of a departure for me today. Chibi, a style formerly known as Superdeformed before Anime became popular in the western hemisphere.

I am not particularily fond of Chibi; that superdeformed cutesy manga look that has insidiously permeated the pop culture of today. Sigh. What is the world coming to?

Now they also have infiltrated my beloved Bones...

During the Bones 4 kickstarter campaign, they offered chibi versions of some of their existing minis as free additions to the core set as social stretch goals, adding them one by one as their target numbers for facebooks shares, retweets, tagging pictures or other interactions on social medias were met.

The full six chibi miniatures did end up In the Bones 4 core set. As I am sworn to do the entire Bones 4 core set, I am honour bound to paint them all eventually...gah!

So...I painted the chibi Sophie for starters.

Sophie the succubus is the Reaper Mascot of more than 20 years, and versions of her have beed used for promotions and to mark special occasions since way back when. She has had figures in every Bones kickstarter. In Bones 4 she had this chibi and also a normally scaled mini.
I went for the classic red devil look, with the opaque but shiny black eyes that I find most fitting for devils and their ilk.

Is it cheating to do the eyes in gloss black?

ARRGH! A giant-headed devil woman! She must be put to the sword!

      B4Core#120 Sophie
from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019
      Reaper Miniatures
Sculpted by Bob Ridolfi (I think...based on sculpting style and other chibis in their store...)
      Made in Bonesium PVC
      25mm integral, sculpted base
should be available from reapermini.com some time in the future

Last new post for the day.
Here is another BONES Tick.  I have 2 more and a queen.
This is the 4th painted one, and I painted it while I painted the centipedes.  I wanted some bright colors and bright markings.
      C&C Welcome.

I painted this large water elemental several months back to fill a gap in my water elemental supply.  It started out translucent blue, but I painted it opaque.  I haven't tried inking the transulcents like others have, I lack the inks, and feel I get good control with opaques.  I wanted a simple beach sand looking base, to suggest he has washed up on the beach to harass sunbathers.  C&C Welcome.

I painted this up quickly several months back, to swell the ranks of water elementals.  It was translucent blue, but I painted it opaque.  I feel I have more control that way, and don't have the spiffy inks everyone says work so well on the translucent BONES minis.
      C&C Welcome.

Here are another pair of Giant Centipedes.  I have 6 total of these, and these are the 4th and 5th to receive paint.
Simple, bright green with some red eyes and antennae for contrast.  C&C welcome.
