Asgard Dwarf w/ Crossbow (DW-10) (my little scarlet pimpernel)

Recommended Posts

Here's a fellow I rescued from an Ebay lot. Had to get help here identifying him. He is apparently from the old Asgard line, now put out by Viking Forge. Or something to that effect. Unfortunately don't know the sculptor. Anyway, he's totes my favorite guy ever, pretty much. I've come to think of him as my version of the Scarlet Pimpernel. Though he's not even scarlet. But yeah. Also discovered with this mini that the Ginger Cookie paint from Christmastime makes a great sandy hair color.

Thanks for looking!

Nice job Marvin. Your painting is improving. ^__^

Small critique, the hat could use a little highlighting. It appears darker than the sleeves.

Yeah, I've become negligent in my appropriate highlighting. Your advice is sound. Thanks.

Fresh off the painting table come the Dwarf Adventurers II from Stonehaven Miniatures.  Their first Kickstarter, another set of Dwarfs, was the second Kickstarter I ever backed!

First, a group of the "traditional" Dwarfs, if any of them can be called as such.

One of my favorites of the set, a Dwarf Barber:

Here are the Dwarfs I thought would work better as Duergar.

My Duergar take some inspiration from World of Warcraft's Dark Iron Dwarfs, not just having white hair.  Gives them a bit of variety.

      Dead Tom:

And preparing for Eberron, the Dwarforged:

Bones 4 core set #20.  Could not find a release # for him yet.  I took this guy and a few of his pals to Reapercon to work on in my spare time (ha!) and got him base coated using some of the new Pathfnder paint set.  I couldn't help but notice the chickens and the look of terror on his face, thus the name.   Finished him with a basic drybrush and wash for table top play.

Have painted up the free mini for this month. Lots of character, but not too much detail. Went for a 'goody' colour scheme.

Presenting Ballista, a Captain of the Engineers Guild team in the game of Guildball.
A former siege engine designer and the father of robotics, his refusal to play Guild politics saw him fall out of favour and lose his Captaincy to Pin-Vice.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, even if he came rather close to being over-detailed even for me.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

We're starting a new 5th Ed D&D campaign in a couple weeks.  I decided I might play a rogue, so I wandered down to the LFGS at lunch and looked at what was there (because I obviously have NO miniatures already I could use).
Spotted the Tabaxi Rogue female pack from WizKids (I like the sculpts and poses of the female figs more than the male ones) so that's going to be my next character.

Cool fig, primer isn't too bad.  Some nasty mold lines but I only have a week to paint this so I'm not messing with them.  Maybe after I'll clean up the "advanced" version and do a better job on her.

And after some time fiddling with colours.

Well, that looks a mess.  Just figuring out colours.
Skin base is MSP Alien Flesh.  Cloth is MSPB Succubus Kiss. Had AV Model Air Black handy so used that to start base coating metals.  And leather is MSP Leather Brown.  Still not sure on the leather but I'll give it some time to think about it and maybe try a wash on it.
