Hex Camo Stencil

So, I've been thinking about painting some of my CAV in a camouflage pattern. I've got an airbrush (though haven't tried using it yet), and was thinking I'd find a digicamo stencil in about the right pixel range.

Then I saw the CAV art work in the book and had a thought.

Turns out that someone makes a hex camo stencil set (Anarchy Models, they did a KS a while back and are still around and selling online). However, I wasn't quite sure how big their hexes were and how well they'd translate to CAV's scale (They look a bit too big).

Does anyone have experience with these stencils? Else have a good hex camo stencil set they can recommend?

Silhouette paper cutters could be used to make desired stencils out of card stock, vinyl and other thin materials. Cricuts might be able to, depending upon the model.

Ask around among any scrapbookers that you know, see if they have one, and could make it.  My wife and I own a Silhouette SD, and I use it more for my gaming and art stuff than she does for her scrapbooking stuff.

Of course, the stencils they make probably won't hold up as well as professional stencils will, but if you're only doing a few models, it might be more than enough.

My suggestion - get some mylar sheets. your art/hobby store might have them, or there is always online

you can cut it with a hobby knife (Use a fresh blade, you'll notice) or a soldering iron with a hotkinfe attachment.

or you can punch it one way or another. I'm experimenting with using a rotery leather punch and doing dot-camo. Working so far.

Can't say I have ever seen sheets like that. Interesting.

Na, I have already decided to attempt this hex pattern when I get my CAV in. I am so hyped up to played this game now I may just have to order one or two  and paint them now!

I am a process problem solver: I think about the issue and going over every way possible to make it happen before i do it. It seems to work about 85% of the time. Not to mention i will practice it before hand then post my findings here for the rest of ya'll.
