Reaper Bones - [77059] Orc Beserker, [77097] Grave Wraith, [77097] Labella Dermonay and [77099] Night Spectre

These are a couple of miniatures that I meant to finish quickly but wound up spending a bit more time on.

 

Orc Berserker. Most just quickshading but some extra attention paid to the skin. Quite happy with the result and will try to do the same with the the other bones orcs. 

 

Grave Wraith. Not much more than black + dry brush. I tried to do some OSL but I failed. It just wasn't to be this time. 

 

Labella Dermonay, Banshee. I really like this figure and I tried the "prime white and add lots of washes" technique I read about on these forums. I'm really happy with the result.

 

Night Spectre. Same "trick" as Labella, except with green instead of blue. Didn't work out as well but in the end it resulted in  a finished mini.

Great stuff all around. I'm a fan of the "prime white + lots of washes" technique for ghostly types. I also really like the skintone on your orc.

what i really like is the dried blood color on the sword - too often we see the wet blood look and it never looks quite realistic... but that looks EXACTLY like dried blood would - especially with the darker pooled areas and streaking and splatering - very cool (i mean really, what self respecting orc is going to wipe his sword clean between battles?) - what colors did you use?

 

your simple but very nice bases really help sell the figures - makes me realize i need to be putting more (any?) effort into this area

They look wonderful but it is hard to tell from the pictures did they retain any of their transparency?  I like the results but would really hate to have a clear miniature and then cover that part up completely.

Very NICE!!!  I specifically like the metallics on the orc.  Very gritty... The Banshee is also well done...

I'm glad you like it. The sword blood part is one of the pieces that I thought perhaps ended up a bit to much :)

None of the mini's has retained any of their transparency. The fire elementals I painted earlier did retain some, but these did not.

Sure. I can't remember exactly but I started off with Army Painter Oak Brown mixed with Army Painter Uniform Grey. Then I think I switched for a lighter brown and a lighter grey when applying the highlights. Guessing on the picture I think I might just have added a lighter grey.... The start is Brown + Grey anyway. Then highlight with brighter colors :)

I usually start with Army Painter Dragon Red and mix in a bit of Black. Then I add more red as I go along. Sometime I end with abit of Army Painter Pure Red. I accidentally spilled some Citadel Baal Red recently and I think it could make for a good blood compliment.

The skin on your orc berserker turned out great!  Mixing brown in your basecoat keeps him lively instead of looking like a stone statue.  The wash technique worked really well on the banshee, giving it a nice monochromatic look.  When I painted my Nightspecter I tried using a dark green ink for the wash without priming.  It works moderately well and mostly preserves the transparency, but obviously has its limitations.

They all look great! The skin tones and armor on the orc are amazing, and I love what you've done with the ghosties!

I gotta bunches likes for these. The dried blood and the stunning colors on the ghostly models...really nice.
