Pingo

Hey, malefactus, have you been sneaking around the Somerset woods?

Recommended Posts

Now that is COOL! I live in the middle of a pecan & live oak grove...OH THE POSSIBILITIES! That was an EXCELLENT find, Pingo...I was in Switzerland at the time...in spirit.

I was playing around with some Teeny Doors to place around the Blight for the Dark Hold Goblin Minions I picked up recently:

AND several months later, I've started on the original Idea for a Faerie/Goblin Tree. Pingo's Tree has more life to it than its dead appearance suggests:

There will be some Mushrooms of varying degrees of awareness & possibly a resident whatever added as I go along. Whether this will be a roving bit of scenery or a vignette is yet to be decided. Be that as it may, I hope you like the piece & will enjoy the progress reports/photos. Please fell free to comment if you do...or don't.

Cool! I look forward to seeing this develop.

I've examined the photos closely, but I'm still not 100% decided---that's a real piece of wood that you've added details to, right?

Thanks, Wolf. It's already starting to evolve...I added some Mushrooms to the Thingy.

It is a couple of local twigs...live oak or pecan. I've added a couple of eyes & there might be a leafless limb in the works along with a possible resident or passerby if it goes vignette.

...there you go. All that remains is to add an inhabitant or two. In the interim feel free to comment...or not.

but ... but..

you already have a number of inhabitants!

I see mushrooms all over the place plus the mysterious creatures staring out of the tree (or the tree itself if the eyes are meant to be it)

:upside:^_^

Lovelly as usual..  Have you started your own studio so that the puplic can get a close up view of these twisted but wonderful creations?

It is a busy section of the Spook Woods at that. I was thinking of adding either a couple of the Dark Hold Goblins or maybe a Stonehaven Gnome...making up my mind is difficult due to its absence.

Now THAT could be fun...at least for moi. Setting up a shop here in the middle of nowhere has its limitations. If I were still a Long Islander, I could put my stuff up for sale at Friend Jim's Men at Arms shop. At any rate, thanks for the reply, robinh.

your welcome... I think the goblins would better fit the dark and mysterious nature of the tree dwelling..  (although I do so much like the gnomes)

I agree on the Goblins. I think the Gnomes need a classier neighborhood...or a classier form of weird at the least.

      Hello all you reaperlaiset!

So since the beginning of the year, I've been working on a little project to get all of these Thunderbolt Mountain fairies painted.  It's actually taken extra long because I painted two sets of these, and the duplicates were all the same colors, but it logically takes twice as long.  It was hard to decide on colors for these guys, but I did want to do a unique skin color for each one and a unique leotard color as well for each one.  I ended up doing the tutus the same color because I I would have done each one a different color, it would have take so much longer and as they are kind of a unit, I wanted something that would kind of bring them together.  These all belong to a set of Ballerina Fairies, sculpted by Tom Meier, inspired by an idea from his daughter.  They were originally from his company Thunderbolt Mountain, and are now available again through Ral Partha Legacy.  There's six of them so lots of photos to follow:

      and here they are together:

So these are some pretty small figures, and I'm going to eventually put them on some simple bases.  I wouldn't almost mind leaving them like this, but I don't want them to tip over too easily.  I might work on the bases this weekend.  So anyhoos, enjoy!  I had quite a lot of fun painting these.  They are very delicate and detailed figures, but didn't take too long to really paint ultimately because they aren't overly laden with all those dingly danglies you find on lots of more modern figures. I've got a few more of these to do with some Pegasi, will do those some day in the not too far-flung future.

“The front door seems really scorched from the inside, professor! No doubt rubble keeps it from opening… But it looks like there’s an opening in the wall, where part of it collapsed, we could go in from there, sure, but be very careful, as this large building could come apart in an instant and bury you forever!”

“A column of this sort is really quite rare in this geographic area? Pity it’s broken… Get three men to start digging around it right away, it’d be capital to find the missing pieces, especially its capstone! It will help me understand the cultural influences that underlie the civilization that flourished here for centuries!”

“Finally, here’s the first stage of our travel in front of us! Admire this gorgeous centuries-old portal, my friends, and behind it, once we’ll have crossed its gates, our incredible adventure will take on a new importance; follow me, let’s go discover the mysteries buried in the City of Sands… Let’s go, as the world belongs to the daring!”

      thank you guys :)

“I’m the last one... and now a silent cloak of darkness has fallen on the small vault in which I found shelter a few days ago! I thought I’d be safe here for a while. But that has turned out not to be true as danger lurks everywhere and nowhere all at once... However, I am the last… and the improvised torch I had made with a scrap of wood and some fabric from my clothes has started to flicker... I’m thus truly the last, and the shadows dancing to the rhythm of the flames across these cracked walls will soon give way to a cold and immobile void! Until then, I’m taking advantage of the final glow of my torch to write these few lines in the small booklet that’s never far from me... I am the last survivor of the mad expedition to this lost, nay, damned city… yes, as in a few hours the sand will have soaked up even the last drop of the blood now flowing from my leg, which was crushed by a large boulder, which I neither have the strength nor the will to move. I’m stuck here and condemned to remain here for eternity, or at least until my final breath... It’s my unbound pride which has led me to this desperate situation with no end possible other than this atrocious and pointless death... yet things started out so well... I had finally discovered the famous City of the Sands, and I naively believed that History would remember my feat as well as my name... the truth is much more cruel! I remain alone in the silence of the night… slowly agonizing... I am… the last… the last!”

For this range, THMiniatures uses pressure casting, which totally suppresses bubbles  and displays the smallest details of these finely-sculpted pieces.

Mat from PWorkWargame.com On the right you will find different pledges. Each pledge level has the cost and what items are included.
With the  exception of the DESERT ALL-IN, the PREMIUM and the 3D pledges, it is not necessary to immediately choose your items when you pledge. THMiniatures will send an access to the pledge manager once the campaign has been finished. This ensures that you can still pick items that will get unlocked during the campaign!

It has been a while since my last post, I'm am just struggling to find the free time to sit down and paint or build at the moment.

Anyway, this week I got the opportunity to run some run some 'build along' model making workshops with the kids at the Youth Centre where I work, and we have been putting together little X-mas themed display pieces.  It was actually pretty fun being able to share and introduce a new generation to the joys of my nerdy hobby.  I was pretty pleased with how they turned out so I figured I would share.

The base is just a piece of log, and the moose is a very cheap plastic toy (I repainted mine), which I managed to find at a local discount store in big buckets of 50 animals for £2, they really cheap and nasty, but actually paint up nicely.  Everything else is just standard modeling stuff, sculptamold, static grasses, clump foliage etc.

On another note I have not forgotten about or abandoned my Apocalyptic Suburbia Journal, it is still sat on my desk gathering dust.  I plan to get back to it in the new year.
