02676: Elia Shadowfeet, Female Halfling Thief

Recommended Posts

Inspired by the January Bones Little People Beauty Pageant, I pulled out some of my metal hobbits and painted them up as well.

This is Elia Shadowfeet, Female Halfling Thief. I discovered I also had an earlier incarnation of Elia, much more old-school in style but sculpted, as this one was, by Sandra Garrity.

I do like the more modern approach in this figure. She's pretty tall for a halfling, reasonably armored, and packed for a serious expedition.

Looking at some of the other paint jobs, like Derek Schubert's stunning version in Reaper's online store, I am struck by how soft mine look. The colors kind of melt into each other and are sometimes ambiguous as to what they are and where they go.

This is also almost my first attempt in 20 years to paint a blonde mini (this was the first, and only by a few hours).

I do try to make use of the broccoli bases. This one maybe looks a little more tarry than I intended.

I love the way you paint figures Pingo. On this one the eyes really leap out at you with a bright wide eyed liveliness that really sells the figure.

I think the blond come off quite well, and again I love the eyes.

I agree the different bits do blend in with each other a bit. The only thing I can suggest is pushing the highlights a bit more on each (and maybe some darker liner inbetween some of the spots.) For example on the ropes on the cross bow, if you added a bit lighter of the color you have there the ropes would not blend in so much with the rest of the cross bow. The same goes for the other areas on the mini.

Recently finished this lovely mini from Dark Sword. Toyed with a few ideas but the winter theme ended up being the one that stuck. I wish I had had more time to spend on it but I am happy with how she turned out.

Continuing with the random minis for now: Cavalry.

Bones Cavalry that is. Over the course of 4 delivered kickstarters of Bones models, Reaper has released a total of 9 mounted models. (11 if you count the flying saucer from the Bones 2 Chronoscope Expansion and the chopper bike mounted Sophie (the one and only Bones KS model delivered in metal!) in the first Bones kickstarter.)

Well, "mounted" is also a theme to use to get something painted, isn't it? And with 9 or 11 models to go for, it should be possible to get done in a timely manner.
Here are the first pair of them that I have painted up.

Presenting Tzandi, a member of Monkey's Troupe from the game Twisted by Demented Games.

Been painting this one on and off for a while, as I could only work on her teeny tiny details in small bursts (She essentially feels like a much larger scale mini that's been shrunk down). I think taking my time paid off as I'm pretty pleased with the results.
This also means I've actually finished a set of something for a change (At least until Long Ma the dragon comes out):-

Presenting The Bride of Nurgle, the leader of the Nurgle warband in the game Warhammer:- Underworlds by Games Workshop.

I don't usually post my Underworlds stuff here, but I felt this one deserved it.
Annoyingly, I did a really good job painting her face but you can't see most of it once her fringe is attached.
