strawhat
I like playing around on Heroforge's 3D tool but I've never ordered a mini proper. The new gray plastic looks hella good though. But my biggest fear has always been that I just have no way of knowing how tall the mini'll turn out just by messing with the "height" option. :/ I'm slightly OCD about scale. Well, the HF minis are on 1" bases (not sure about the mounted ones). You could always do it longhand (measure the base, get the ratio, measure the mini, do the math). But an easier way would be nice.
pinkymadigan
It's weird that they've been so resistant to the suggestion of putting the height somewhere on the screen. It's been brought up a lot, and seems like it should be really easy. strawhat
Guess what happened yesterday. Grey plastic is back! Just in case anyone is interested. At least for a little while. I got two minis in. I'd like to do more, but I really shouldn't have done the two I did. Both for post-apocalyptic games. These may, or may not, be slightly idealized (i.e. "thinner") versions of real people and a cat.
BlazingTornado
Guess what happened yesterday. Grey plastic is back! Just in case anyone is interested. And man its return seems to have broken the site.... Haven't been able to get it to load all day. I was hoping the gray plastic would be somewhere between the solid and detailed plastics in price, but man... 30$US + shipping for a mini is a bit much for my budget... strawhat
Broken? I haven't had any problems over the last few days. To be fair, $30 is only $5 more than the Ultra Detail. It's not for the faint of heart or tight of budget, and I wouldn't do a HF mini for just any old character. The other characters I have in my library are all "old friends" who still dwell in my head (OK, and maybe three "new" friends waiting to be with a couple interpretations of established media characters). Right now, I can only imagine using HF for another two or three characters, and even then there are parts that need to be added before I can justify pulling the trigger. BlazingTornado
Yeah I wouldn't use Heroforge for just about anything but there are things you just can't find an actual mini for... like an armored Plague Doctor wielding a scythe.
Digitarii
I've built a number of my favorite literary characters in Hero Forge that either never got made or are too hard to reliably track down. Most of the Eternal Champion characters. The Justicar, Escalla and Polk from the TSR novels of White Plume Mountain, Descent into the Depths of the Earth and the Queen of the Demonweb Pits. A few originals, but mostly the characters I've noted. I'm aware of the old Citadel eternal champion line, but most of those were limited to the Elric Saga except for the champions themselves.
