Raging Heroes: Dark Elves and Sisters

For those that have backed the first kickstarter, what can one expect from the troop boxes? Are command boxes the same as troop boxes except for the additional "musician, bearer, and champion"? Do they give enough items to replace bearer and musician if one may not care too much about those?

They actually don't have musicians or standard bearers, and the 'champion' is the commander. The command box contains two regular troopers (but separate models from the regular troop boxes), a commander and two heavy weapon specialists. Standard bearers were part of the individual heroines.

I just checked the Kurganova Regular Trooper Command Group. The two regulars are on a single sprue with legs, torso, two arms (one with gun attached), and a couple belt attachments. One has a single head, the other has two heads.

The heavy weapon specialists come on three sprues, one has torso, legs and head, the second has 4(!) right arms holding 4 different weapons, one the same rifle as the regulars, and three heavier ones, then the final sprue has 4 left arms with the hands in different positions and a couple belt attachments (a knife and some pouches), as well as a bipod support.

The commander is on two sprues. One sprue has two sets of legs, one is similar to the regular troopers, the other looks like the commander in the concept art, one leg raised with the back of a coat billowing, along with two heads. The other sprue has five arms, one with the same rifle as the others, two with smaller hand guns, one with a sabre, and one with an empty hand. It also has a torso, belt attachment and a pair of binoculars.

If you were to only buy one set, you should definitely get the command group. You can turn them into five regular troopers if you want, and you have a pile more options. However, the regular troop sets are five different sculpts, so they really have 10 different figures even before you allow for customizing with the ball joint assemblies and the alternate heads.

I am really pumped up by the bit in the update that mentioned one of the unlocks will be male torsos and heads to mix up your figs.

Which means the males will be as hot as the females. Yeah!!!! Or assume they will be since they need to go with everything...

I am not as into male minis, but if they are hot elves... well that is another thing all together...

My biggest KS expenditures by far have been with Mierce.  I don't even want to think about how much I've spent there.  But if I have to, I think I'm close to $5000....  Yikes!  The first one alone was close to $2000.... But, oh such gorgeous stuff!

I am all about giving France my money this month. I ordered the Fiopedia and a painting dvd from Figone. I almost backed the WAMP KS and got the book with it, but realized I just wouldn't use the brushes. I have a ton of brushes I bought and don't use.

I should focus on getting rid of debt instead of spending all extra money on stuff.

Maybe after this KS is over.....

I'm actually torn on this. I like a lot of what I see, however I'm very wary of their pricing. It doesn't make sense to me. Forex: for $20 you can get a box of 5 troops; I'm cool with that. For the same $20 you could also get 1 (one) figure who's a heroine; I can't quite accept that, especially if it's still just basically a man-sized figure. What's the actual physical difference? The troop box is gonna have a lot more parts, so what makes this one man-sized figure worth the same as five?

I know I don't have to get any of the singles; that's not the point. Other than in-game rules, I don't see how one figure is the same price point as five comparably sized figures. I know that an army only needs 1 general and lots of grunts, bu what if I'm not buying an army? What if I want a couple of the singles 'cause they just look bad-arse and I want to try and paint 'em?

To put it more simply, why am I gonna buy 1 apple when I can 5 for the same price?

Anyway, please don't start throwing hand grenades at me. I'm just kinda thinking out loud, not intending to complain or anything. Continue throwing money at this; it's at least fun to watch if nothing else. ::):

Welcome to the wacky world of wargames pricing!

Size may be one factor.

Part of it is because named characters will (theoretically) sell less than troops, as anyone who is buying an army is only going to get the named characters once but multiple troops so they need to be at a higher price to offset the cost of the moulds... other than that.... erm.... oh hye, look at this

*runs away*

The armies are in spincast resin, the singles are in metal.

Defaullt for everything is spincast resin. From the FAQ:

Everything is cast is spin-cast resin. Most Heroines (excluding the Freebies) will also be available in metal.

In the first kickstarter they gave the choice in the pledge manager.

From the models I have the price range seems to be based on size

So for example...

One-Shot Blondie is a $10 fig. She is the size of a regular trooper.

Cruz is a $15 fig, she is just slightly bigger than a normal trooper, however her gun is the size of her torso. If she was metal you could melt her down and get almost two figs.

All of the $15 figs are similarly sized, whether it's from their equipment or integral terrain bits.

Kiki and Nepharia were the $20 figs and they are Ogre sized models.

I don't know if they are using that same method to determine pricing this time around or not though.
