Heisler
TSA has never stopped me to examine my miniatures, despite all those tiny guns and swords in there. I'll consider packing tonight, maybe tomorrow, maybe Wednesday morning before my flight.
Keianna
Well, the car is ready to go at least. I on the other hand have way too much to do and no where near enough time to do it. I think I can get 'enough' done if not everything.
Sergeant_Crunch
I've got some stuff to run tonight, but the vast majority of what I'm bringing is made and mostly packed into their individual containers. Trying to decide exactly how much to bring for after hours games.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 27, 2015 Author Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2015 Wyvern is Done!!!! I just need to figure out how to safely transport it. Just filled the car and got a haircut. Next is some final class prep for a couple hours, then clean the car, and pack. I expect to be fully ready to leave well before bed tonight. I'm getting the excited jitters in my gut now. Andy Transporting it by car is far easier and safer than TSA, involved searches, and baggage handlers. Yeah, but I'm still concerned. Two years ago as we were driving down, a lady in OK pulled out right in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes and swerve to avoid a collision. When I got to the con, I found that one of my entries had gotten loose and was seriously damaged and I couldn't fix it in time to enter it. Serenity
Yeah, but I'm still concerned. When I got to the con, I found that one of my entries had gotten loose and was seriously damaged and I couldn't fix it in time to enter it. That's a tough one. Fortunately, I've found situations like that are rare, at least on the occasions I've gone on long car trips, though I tend to be a defensive driver. If you put the entries in their own boxes, then pack those boxes in larger boxes with padding inside them, it might help. And possibly a cargo net, depending on your vehicle.
Kangaroorex
Speaking as one of the Challenged, (I just had to decide to do winged horses this year as part of my plans to get noticed) I start the challenge of how to get these pieces to Reapercon in one piece tomorrow.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 27, 2015 Author Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2015 I ended up leaving it on its painting base which snaps into my painting case with a 3/4" rare earth magnet in both the holder and the case. That transported it safely to and from work for the last two months, might as well let it take it to TX.
Reaper User ReaperWolf Posted April 27, 2015 Reaper User Share Posted April 27, 2015 I have special rocket-shaped dice for my Driftspace rpg demos, they look kinda like bullets. Hope they don't give me a hard time. I plan to pack in my checked baggage. >>RW
Dr.Bedlam
Last year, when I took my melt bucket through TSA, I put it all in a big plastic ziplock baggie, and put it in the bucket with my shoes, my laptop, and the contents of my pockets. I was nervous. Sure, I was innocent, but what if one of these X-Ray jockeys decides that I'm trying to build a shrapnel bomb on the plane or something?Sure enough, one guy picks the bag up and looks at it. Another guy takes it from him and critically examines it. And then he looks at me and says, "You play Warhammer?"Got through just fine. Hoping that same guy's on duty this year...

Moderator TaleSpinner Posted April 28, 2015 Author Moderator Share Posted April 28, 2015 Most of the packing is now done and sitting by the front door. I just have the last pack in the morning stuff left for tomorrow. Only thing I have left is to put fresh sheets on the guest bed so Kris has a place to sleep tonight, then I can go pour myself a scotch and relax. BTW, I narrowly avoided making MsMelons very angry with me. I packed the chocolate I bought with my sculpting stuff. Then it dawned on me that that might sit in the hot car when we take stops. We'd have goo by Wednesday. I repacked it into the cooler. Andy

Gooey chocolate is still chocolate.
