DARK SWORD RABBIT RANGER by Glitterwolf

Recommended Posts

looks nice!   Some more light would bring out the colors a bit better and allow us to clearly see the detail and the freehand on his cloak.

More light will cause your camera to use a faster shutter speed to get the same exposure. An exposure compensation of around +1.5 would fix the problem, as would a gray background instead of the white you used. (Don't do both.)

I do like the figure quite a bit.

I really like the eyes.  they have a definite bit of the "mad hare" in them.  Great job and good to see these figures starting to creep out around the edges.

I changed my forum name a little while ago.

Now I'm changing tags and thread titles so when one searches for Glitterwolf you can find it all.

Thx @ub3r_n3rd for pointing this out in My Lost World Project, my OCD kicked in..

I love that freehand on the cloak.

Thx, it's actually something I painted long ago.

Just changed my name in the thread and bumped it.

I have more , just look at my Index of painted minis ( see my sig)

I haven’t been on the forum much this year.  Since joining Anne Foerster’s Patreon I’ve been spending more time on Discord.

I’ve been painting this guy following the paintalong she’s done for one of the tiers.  It’s the first time I’ve tried to do a “display quality” paint job.  Other firsts are NMM, freehand, leather texture, cloth texture, and sculpted base elements.

I actually started this guy early this year, but then stopped painting altogether for about 4 months after the pandemic started.  I picked him back up in July and am getting close to finishing.  I’m posting a series of pics I’ve taken as I went, and will continue to post as I finish him up soon.

Feb 29: prepped and primed, with some minor GS work

      Mar 1:  base GS sculpting

      — LONG BREAK —

Aug 2:  skin lined, basecoated, and shaded

      Aug 6:  skin initial highlights

Finally I finished my conversion of Nienna Elfen Ranger. I pretty much changed every aspect of the original mini.

New things attempted: Cloth textures and freckles.

      C&C very welcome.

Areas to improve: Blends (smoother is always better), finer texture patterns, sculpt could be a little cleaner in some places.

This miniature will be roughly my third or fourth venture into the realm of oil paints. Everything, with exception to the metallics, eyeballs, and some skin highlights were done in oils. This is also my first attempt in basing in the style of James Wappel (wappellious) using Green Stuff World texture rollers, sculpey, and Vallejo texture paste.

No black paint was used in this exercise. I still can't take great photographs, but eventually I will get there!

So as hinted in my US Armored Company thread, here's the beginning of @Glitterwolf's Dragoons!

Some work on the Dutch tonight, PTRLs and C&Vs Had a problem with the wash I put on them last night, so had to re do the base coat. Tried a different wash, seen on one of the C&Vs, so need to try something else... Thanks for looking! SGT G   link to my US force

As seen in the WIP section (thanks for all who helped me out). I thought I'd pop her here as no one else seems to have painted her.

(Note that the enlarged elf ears and the base / mushrooms are my own additions)
