Ethiopian Terrain: need help

Recommended Posts

Back from the beach (probably should have stolen some sand...)

Plugged the plugs with spray foam and capped that with sculptamold:

The at center back is a half plug to put on the table edge.

Printed out some Axumite stelae, both upright and fallen.  Had to take a hacksaw to the models to break them up because the 3D file for this gives wonky results when modified.

I have been told if you spray glycerin on seafoam, it's actually quite flexible. Depending on where you are, mesquite makes really cool desert trees. I like the gutter foam trees better than the first ones. I don't know what a volcanic plug is, but they look amazing, so please share.

It's a remnant of a volcano.  I'm not a geologist but as I understand it it's a mixture of a solidified magma left over when other rock erodes away and that same magma being pushed up by pressure from below.  This one is called "God's Finger" in Ethiopia.

That is super cool. I wonder if you can climb it or if it's too fragile?

In other news, terrain by Sorastro on YouTube features a beautiful red rock terrain tutorial with painting instructions.

Good job!

And be careful about taking sand from beaches, depending on the Nation you can even get arrested leading to a huge fine or even detention.

I know the so called Pink Beach in Italy has such strict rules!!
