GNL Mats by GameNightLife

They said to let them know what levels to add international shipping to. Or if a country is missing.

Yup, I saw that. I did a test pledge, and Sweden seemed to already be a valid option though. $20, not too bad.

Tempted to get this for the hubs. Someone drew a type of organ on his mat (not me) in permanent marker since someone else said all markers came off the mat.

Sometimes beer and D&D aren't the best combo :)

Was it a church organ?

Finally got time to actually look at this. I like. A LOT!

Anyone notice he said that later (I think another KS) they plan to do terrain stickers?

When I was a wee tyke, I had some Peanuts (yes, the comic with Snoopy)...uh...things.... They were a (magnetic? Electrostatic?) backer board with a scene and vinyl stickers of the characters, Snoopy's dog house and other stuff that you could stick to the board to make scenes and then take them up again. That's I think what they're going for. AWESOME!

Found it! Colorforms! I think this is like what they're going to do:

http://snoopn4pnuts.com/colorforms/

By the way, for square boards (I dont do hex), for a 4' x 4' space you need 36 tiles, 4' x 6', 48 tiles and 4' x 8', 72 tiles. I'm in for 50. For now. The idea about stacking with map changes underneath is quite compelling...

I'm already tempted, but if they do stuff like that? YIKES. I'll be in.

A bit strangely, the $75 level seems to be the only one available for international backers. I'm not sure why that is. So it'll be 30 tiles, no more, no less, if I back.

I think Domestics can back at that level too, but Internationals must back at that level.

I'm going to do some wild speculation here, based on what I know about the backside (creator interface) of Kickstarter.

Speculation follows:

Given: When a creator creates a pledge level, they have the option to set it Domestic (home country of the project) Only, or allow All International.

Given: If they opt to allow international, then they get the ability to check a box that says "for international customers, add $X shipping" and if they check it, they then get to define $X. Let's suppose for a minute $X is $15. So now this $75 level will charge International backers $90.

Given: This cannot be changed once set.

So my speculative hypothesis is that they calculated postage on 20, postage on 30, and postage on 40. They found that because of the way postal prices scale non-linearly with weight and have sudden bumps at certain points, postage for 20 and 40 was oddly more "per unit" than for 30. So whether it was good decision or a poor one, they decided to offer the option that was most appealing.

End Speculation.

My first thought when they said Terrain Stickers was Colorforms, and I got very excited!

My 16 squares will only be a 32"x32" - not even 1mx1m, but my table isn't actually 4 feet by 4feet, so not being able to cover a 4 foot square because I won't have 36 tiles does not bother me at all.

edit: and off topic: in the comments they are apparently responding to a backer named "Michael C. Stiltz" that I do not see posting at all, and while that's kind of odd, what's really rattling my noggin is that out of 288 Backers, 2 of them are Stiltz's???  I have NERDY COUSINS???

I was wondering if there was SOME way to mark them in a permanent way.  The reason I ask is that we often stop gaming in the middle of a battle and having the squares or hexes numbered help keep track of where people are until the next week (or many weeks) session.  Then I could label each map with a unique letter, and then number the hexes and squares on each.  That let's me say the cleric was at B56, the fighter at A24, etc.

I asked them the question of course and will see what they reply.

The latest Q&A where he showed how you can use three different markers on one board and remove the dry-erase while leaving the others in place was super-awesome.

It looks like if you use permanent marker to create your coordinate system, you can use the other two marker types at will without fearing to damage your coordinate system.

Cousins, or have your other personalities finally found the Intarwebs?

What? You didn't know about 'the others'? Oops...

Hey, this is Jerry, from GameNightLife.

Mr. Baphomet69 has pointed me here. :)  Hiya!

We are, like he mentioned, adding international options for shipping every time someone messages us about it.  (Also....did I just read that I need to add Sweeden on to the shipping options? :D )

And if anyone has questions, we have someone checking messages fairly often---just let us know if you have a question!

Thanks so much for all the support---we really appreciate it!

Yeah, welcome Jerry; good to see you here! Your product looks really nice, and I'll be giving some serious thought as to whether or not I can afford to back your campaign. I have two questions/comments regarding your Kickstarter, specifically concerning the pledge levels.

International shipping. As I've understood it, the $75 level is the only one available for international purchase, right? What I don't quite understand is when you say you'll be adding countries to the list of options, because when I go in now and click 'back this project' I can choose any country in the world, and they're all listed as $20. I don't know if you meant to put $20 as the 'anywhere in the world' shipping cost (it sounds a bit low to me), but if not I think you should clarify this in a section on the main page. Because as it is now, if someone from Sweden, Australia, or Argentina backs your project, they would just assume $20 is the shipping charge for them and not even ask about it.

Add-ons. I see that you have added an 'add-on' pledge level at $15 for 5 extra tiles. This is usually how you do it on the Indiegogo platform (because there backers can choose more than one pledge level), but that's not where people will be looking for information regarding add-ons on Kickstarter. I think you should remove that pledge level (otherwise you run the risk of the confusing situation of an uninformed backer actually choosing this as their pledge level), and instead put a section on the project main page that contains this text (basically: "If you've backed at the $30 level or higher, increase your pledge by $15 to add 5 tiles").

Anyway, just some thoughts; good luck with your campaign Jerry! ::):

I hate you so much right now, SamuraiJack. I am so backing this, I just have to figure out what level the Household 6 will let me back at (as soon as I find out how much shipping to Hawaii is).

I'm in. These look cool. Worth it just so I don't look like an art student with ink smears up my arms after every game night ;)

Haha! Looking at your avatar and considering the subject of your post...I got a very disturbing image of you wiping your game mats with your face...

Sorry, just struck me as hilarious.

Part of me almost hopes they don't hit the stretch. If they add other colors my wallet is going to cry.

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest.

      Story
After the estate of one Fomo Barrowblight (who many moons ago, and with heavily laden bags, had said he was just off for a morning walk, never to return) was sold at auction, there came to light a strange scroll that appeared to be a map of the final resting place of a lost tribe of halflings.  These cousins lived down in the scorching Southlands, amidst endless dunes that had buried whole cities and civilisations.
The newly elected (and so still very enthusiastic) Halfling Town Council had organised an expedition to make contact with their fellow halflings, with the aim of swapping some stories and recipes, and who knows, perhaps even coming back with some interesting new cakes.
And, after many great perils and travails, the expedition found itself in a mysterious location known as 'The Valley of the Things'.  Here, recipes in strange hieroglyphs were marked on tomb walls,  guarded jealously by High Priests and long mummified pastry chefs.
The expedition takes time to assuage the fears of the High Priests that they are here to steal the sacred recipes and make formal diplomatic relations.  But Fomo Barrowblight and another mysterious figure seem intent on stealing the recipe to the sacred pie and have already gleaned some of the ingredients...

        Halfling Town Council Five

And what is more, they will be manufactured by our own talented team of resin casting experts. This allows us to monitor the process closely to ensure the best quality in the market and a timely delivery.
We have learned a lot from our previous campaigns, and we want to put all this experience to good use, repeating everything we did right, improving upon it, and correcting our past mistakes. We invite you to join us in this journey of discovery throughout the Matter of Britain and its amazing cast of unique characters.
This campaign is a journey of discovery, full of surprises such as custom bits to make your miniatures even more striking than they already are. Some of these kits will be Kickstarter exclusive, so those of you who choose to support us will be able to proudly show it through unique miniatures, even more full of life and character than our regular releases.

OMG!  Jason Weibe helped create the new Dwarven line being released on Kickstarter by Tomb Guardians!  These minis look so cool and they are cheap!  I haven't seen anyone post about this yet but here is the link.  It starts tomorrow morning.  They also said Bobby Jackson and Gene Van Horne created there monsters in the set.  Cant wait.   I purchased there Amazons and they were fantastic!  I posted some pics.  Im assuming the Fire Demon and add ons are in Resin.
