Orcs! [BESM: The Slayers d20]

Recommended Posts

"Orcs (BDSM)"

THAT would be an interesting game. (But not appropriate for a family-friendly forum.)

I'm working on my character sheet now. It's been a while since I've played anything but "lite" D&D such as S&W so I'm having to sort of re-learn a few things, but it's slowly  coming back to me.

Do you need us to send you our char-sheets privately when they're finished?  Also, are there any special instructions on the rolling of initial hit-points?

Finally, I have finished the questionnaire.

Name:
Gaddur
Dialogue colour:
Dark Orange
1. Name something your character does not want to lose.
small stone amulet given me at birth. It is very rare and is strangely attracted to iron.
2. Name something your character would die for.
..for kin, tribe and homeland, but mostly for the smallest or most helpless.
3. Name something your character would kill for.
Food..survival..or because of duty..but not just for sport.
4. What is your character's favorite color?
Orange, the colour of the snowy-capped ancestral hills at dawn or sunset
5. What is your character's favorite food?
bread...the sort of soft sweetish bread that only humans ever seem to have
6. What is your character's most important current goal?
To one day live in a place where there is no need of warfare..one world, united under orcish rule
7. Who is your character's best friend?
Klar...because she seems to know everything about everything
8. What is the secret your character does not want others to discover?
Nobody seems to know for certain if I am male or female..and I aim to keep it that way.
9. Describe your character's perfect mate.
Tall, dark-skinned, symmetrical features, a good cook, able to read, and isn't afraid of dangerous sport or fire.
10. How can I hurt your character?
I have this nightmare fear of one day having both hands cut off or broken and no longer being fit to be a warrior, smith, scribe, or much of anything.
11. How will your character die?
It will be fiery....very fiery. Klar says it is only a matter of when, where and how much.

Yes, character sheets will be private, you can email them to me at sgtmilesdavid at yahoo dot com.

Character histories will be posted in here once they're complete. Publicly.

Son of a beach. I've been so busy with my resume and stuff this last week that I keep forgetting about rolling the Orcs! stuff.

There... I set a reminder on my calendar. That should help me remember...

Could make for an interesting anecdote if Redambrosia accidentally mixed up the file for character history and the file for the resume.  Chances are though that it would be the most interesting thing to come across the human  resource desk in a long dang time.

Okie, my Orc! girl is Gresha, and I'm thinking she's gonna be a warrior. Here's my roles (I kid you not, I wish my dice would co-operate with me like this more often):

6, 6, 5, 4, 3, Str = 6+6+5 for 17. Why waste a 6, right?

6, 5, 4, 2, 2, dex = 6+5+4 for 15.

6, 4, 3, 3, 3, con = 6+4+3 for 13.

6, 4, 3, 3, 2, int = 6+4+3 for 13.

6, 5, 4, 4, 2, wis = 6+4+2 for 12.

4, 3, 3, 3, 2, chr = 4+3+3 for 10.

I'll finish off my character sheet later though. I need to get some rest or I'll fall asleep during Cinderella! (totally in character for my orc girl, she secretly likes fancy things).

There's an orcish word for frou-frou, you know.

It's "elf"
  :D :D :D

/internal Wonder-Years-esquel monlogue/  I contemplated those words for a moment, laughed internally at their cleverness, and then began to consider the sound arse-kicking that would most likely be dealt forthwith by this obviously stronger orc!-girl. And as if having ones arse kicked was not already bad enough, she was wearing a very dangerous-looking pair of glass slippers and at no time did it occur to me to purchase a Potion of Cure Kicked Arse.

I still need at least two more players before I can start this. I would prefer a full 10, but I can start with 6. But that's the bare minimim.

SO SPREAD THE WORD!

I've never played a play by post rpg. I'm curious how often do you post? If someone doesn't post in adequate time do you skip them or does the GM take their turn? I am a big fan of Orcs in general. One of my favorite fantasy books is Orcs First Blood.

With my schedule, it's a post-when-you-can type of atmosphere. If I haven't heard from someone in a while, I'll prompt them with a PM from time to time, but I totally expect absences.

I'll give it until Monday. 5 is too few for the challenges presented, I've already run the numbers.

I'm a little late in posting these, but this year I made a concentrated effort to try to paint orcs and only orcs for October, both to participate in the loose ceremony of "Orctober" and because I really need to finally paint some Orcs for the table. I started out trying some contrast paint for the first time and I didn't really like how the skin tone came out on the first model so I started experimenting. I tried many combinations of basecoat colors, thinning the contrast paint, inks, highlighting and glazing, and different washes. Not all of these even look that different, but I enjoy the subtle variations going on in the theory that, like humans, not all orcs are going to look exactly the same. It was fun experimenting, and I'm looking forward to painting the rest of the Orc crew next year.

I had a little bit of time on Saturday to continue with my Prince August orcish warband (guess it’s an Orctober surprise), finishing some speedy work on three figures.  All three of these are from Prince August mold #655.

I had never successfully cast these figures before this summer, so I was interested to see that the face designs on the shields are just the sort of thing I freehand onto flat orc shields.

That brings me up to nine, but I’m going to need three or four more to field a 300 point warband for A Song of Blades and Heroes.  The real use of home cast figures is to provide bulk at low costs rather than individual skirmish game show pieces, and these guys are likely to be eventually subsumed into larger units.  After priming I found a few places where I could have done a better job cleaning up mold lines and such.

The fourth figure is a Prince August human barbarian from earlier in the summer, just to show the relative scale of the orcs against the humans.

Each year, since the inception of the Baby Bestiary, we've put together an annual calendar featuring a new talented artist to illustrate to bring to life our adorable calendar.
With a different artist, we can explore the adorable through their eyes, see them experiment with new styles and interpretations of what the Baby Bestiary means to them. With every passing year, we’ve had amazing pieces that have resonated with our community.
      Artist Feature: Kelsey
Hi everyone! My name is Kelsey, also known around the internet as Keymonster or just Key. I am a full-time, freelance artist and illustrator working out of the Pacific Northwest. My creative passions center around animals, plants and the fantastical worlds they exist in. I love creating plant/animal hybrids and integrating botanical motifs and imagery into the worlds that I build as well as creating adorable little creatures of all shapes and sizes getting into a bunch of mischief.

It has been a while since I painted anything. A combination of my arms acting up again and my just not feeling it. Call it the recurring fallow season.
So I am getting back on track with some Orcs.  These are partly from the first Bones kickstarter and partly from the third. All together a nice band of 10.
There are nine different orcs that are variants made on only two basic bodies, plus a singular warchief that I think fits in with the lot of them.
I originally based them on 40mm round bases with sloped edges, the thinner-than-citadel knockoff ones. But there was always something not quite right about them, the bases were simply too large for the minis. So off they came. I ended up with making 37mm 3D-printed ones instead. I think they fit well on these minis.

      lots of pictures below
