Nice looking paint rack. So I know you're worried about the commerce rule and such but one thing that's allowed is linking to your facebook page, posting images of your upcoming KSer as well as talking about what you have planed and general feedback.

I for one would love an acrylic\metal paint rack. Seen them before but none of the producers are US based. MDF is just really to boring and unfinished for my tastes. Maybe offering staining or something similar as like the functionality of what you've shown in the first post but the plainness of it puts me off despite the usefulness of it.

It's interesting you say that. Short version, we will make them in acrylic, but its expensive. (Also were looking at aluminum...still expensive)

Acrylic sheets are 6 times more expensive than what we currently use. I Will make them, but only custom ordered.

Having said that, I detest acrylic. I find it to be dull and boring. It's a solid color (or lack of color). It has only a smooth texture, and no variation. Our products are made using finished ply. The things cabinets are made of, to give exactly that, texture and life.

I will post a picture of the acrylic version. Just remember, it's going to cost double what Tue wood ones do.

We also do not make anything out of MDF, ever. It's a horrible material and we won't make it, simply because we don't believe it's up to our standards. (To be fair, neither is acrylic, but it has at least some redeeming properties.)

I was looking at your web store, and I noticed shipping is only to the US. Will you be adding international shipping options to the kickstarter?

THis looks really good! I wish i could go to ReaperCon to see it! But i WILL be watching your KS.

I will do my very best to source a shipping option. Shipping international is stupidly expensive from the US. Even to Canada. We do have some maple leaf customers though. I also am working with a good friend in Calgary to offer a regional distribution point to Canada. This should lower the price of shipping. We haven't finalized that plan yet, but we are working on it.

I'll just say that I have been looking at getting paint racks for a LONG time but have not for a few reasons.

1)  They are WAY too expensive to get shipped from outside the USA.  TGJ is finally a local shipping source of them to keep the costs down.

2)  Any USA made ones just were not good quality.  TGJ has solved this with the thought and materials they put into these it seems.

So I'm VERY happy to finally have a source.  And I do feel for backers outside the USA on shipping costs as I have been struggling with that for awhile.  It's too bad that shipping between the USA and Canada is so outrageous when we share a large border.

While I like the capability to add drawers and such underneath the paint racks I have found that I usually have to much stuff in the way to actually use them effectively. I think we they are showing there is the "Full Monty" paint rack with optional drawers and stuff underneath.

What they are showing is the "Ai Papi" rack. The Full Monty has no drawers underneath.

I asked before since I'm the one who won their Facebook contest and I actually opted to customize more and get some stuff with drawers, they were kind enough to give me "store credit" for the Full Monty and I ended up spending over $100 heh  ::D:

I have done a lot of wood staining over the years so on the surface offering a stained version sounds like a no brainer. The issue is do you want to pay for a stained version? The wood would need at least some sanding before applying the stain and then there is drying time, which since they are in TX could be quite a while. And then there is the cost of materials, although stain is not particularly expensive.  All of that would add to the cost. Certainly not that they shouldn't do it or couldn't do it but someone has to pay for it.

well, there are two main reasons we dont do that. (thats not to say we won't, just that we don't as a standard).\

Firstly, we're all kit makers. So the rack system is supplied in a kit form. You assemble and decorate as you like. think of it as a blank canvas. Largely we've gotten a lot of positive feedback about NOT putting a stain on them as people like the natural look of wood grain. plus, I cannot imagine trying to see what people would want in terms of color.

Secondly, cost. it takes us time to do that, that costs money. We're happy to do it, but there is always a cost involved.

Everyone should be encouraged to customize them as they see fit and I for one would love to see what people do with them.

If the cost was reasonable I'd pay. I've got so much freaking stuff that needs to be put together and painted that if I got this it would sit around for 3 years for me to get to it and spend the time myself.  I don't like having to spend time getting my tools ready for use.

Thankfully, the racks use no tools or glue to assemble, and the drawers only require a minimal amount of glue (we use thing set CA glue) to assemble.

We're happy to discuss options for anyone. Custom orders are taken. Feel free to send us a message though facebook if you'd like to have something done.
