Burrows and Badgers by Oathsworn Miniatures

I'm still slowly working through Mice and Mystics. These little guys are just sitting on the bench staring at me, taunting me with their desire to be painted, leaving me yearning to put the brush to them. They are my motivation to finish. I have promised myself I can't touch them until I get my current project done. It is difficult.

I want to paint some of my 20 Bones first to get more practice.

They are to nice to get a paintjob lesser than the best I can manage.

But they do stare at me with their silvery eyes while camping between colorless ruins...

I will say that you, more than anyone else (except maybe our Brazilian plants) make me appreciate the US postal and customs service.  Pretty much the only package that just doesn't wind up on your doorstep automatically with no tariffs or dues is something from Cuba, and even that may change.

It's not all rosy over here. I have run into one tariff situation here in the US.

If you buy more than $200 worth of bras from England you have to pay tax in the US. I believe it was something like $40. If you need to buy your bras from England in order to get the right size... let me say, $200 is a very easy number to reach.

(and sorry if that was tmi for anyone).

I think sometime I'll order $200 in minis just to see if I get hit with a tariff then. ::D:

Is anyone here still waiting for their minis?

If fulfilment is complete then this thread will be locked and another can be started when Oathsworn is prepared to announce their next KS project is about to start.

I will admit that a lot can depend on how the sender marks the goods.  toys, little men, soldiers, miniature figures, all seem to read as non tariff. apparently liquor does to for whatever reason because I have had boxes of booze shipped home a few times with no tariff.

maybe they consider your to be luxury goods.  Or it could fall into a category that there is an old tariff law on to protect the US (and Chinese) industries...

*raises hand* I'm waiting for my minis, but I'm probably the most far-flung- I'm in South Africa.

Hopefully it will appear soon, but I'm not sure when as our postal service is even poorer than the UKs.  The situation isn't helped by the fact that UK mail doesn't appear to give out tracking numbers any more?  Meaning its effectively impossible to gauge where the parcel is.

You can still get post with tracking numbers here in the UK; it just adds about £7.50 to the cost... we looked into it before we posted for this Kickstarter, but it would have added roughly £1500 to our postal costs!

Hopefully they'll reach you soon; the people at the Post Office didn't really have any idea how long it would take. We sent it airmail, so at least the bit from the UK to Africa should've been quick. After that, who knows....

Thanks Lovejoy!  I didn't know that was how the UK postal service worked now.  Perhaps in future Kickstarters, letting people know about and pay the extra fee for tracking would be cool; though I understand that adding anything like that to a Kickstarter could exponentially add to the workload.

Hopefully I see my reward soon anyway.  I'm sure it is in the system, the probable holdup is (or hopefully was) with our customs, which tend to be pretty inefficient.

I picked up my reward yesterday.  As it turns out, it had gotten stuck at customs and I had to take along a proof of purchase.

The miniatures are gorgeously cute.  Definitely pushing themselves pretty high on the painting list!
