Jebus... That is bad a$$.

Where di you get the backdrop? It has all my favorite painting colors in it. As does your dragon.

Thanks!!! I picked up the backdrop from Hangar 18 miniatures. They are a great bunch of folks out here in my neck of the woods (Colorado) they will also be at ReaperCon this year.

Oh wow- look at that intense magenta!  What did you use?  I love how you use color- with the purple on the body and the pink on the wings- it ties together so beautifully!

yes please, spoliers on how you did it!

I'd love to paint my bones Verocithrax in similar tones!

Colors???

Here's what i remember...

I based coated the whole mini with witchcraft purple (29841).  Then with the wing membranes and the underneath portions of the body I shaded with Carnival Purple (09664).  That blocked out most of the areas.

To get that magenta look on the scales I used Pale Violet (9027), punk rock pink (9286) and blush pink (9262) to highlight up the areas left in witchcraft purple.  When the blends were getting close I used Clear Magenta (9098) to soften the blends and keep it from getting too pink.

I also did a lot of lining in-between the scales to help with contrast.  I used a mixture of carnival purple and blue liner (50/50).  The cold dark tone it created really helped I think.  I also used this mix in a number of areas to final shadow tones

Regarding the wings I started with carnival purple as the base and then used a mixture of witchcraft purple and amethyst purple (9024) to highlight up.  To help with the transitions I used clear magenta again and in the darker areas I used clear purple (9099).

I hope this helps.

Thanks again for all of the kind words!!!!
