oh yeah.  I ended up going to the doctor last night as my cough wouldn't go away and I've had no energy.  He said it was the flu and I should be fine in a few days IF I take bed rest.

Unfortunately, I'm swamped catching up at work and have to scramble this weekend to get ready for our dealer booth at Cangames in Ottawa next weekend.

Next year, I will make sure to take out the con crud from my swag bag!

I've been to a few cons, including a couple larger ones, but never caught the crud there as I recall.  I don't know if it matters, but I've never flown to any of the cons I've attended.  In your experience, how common is it to come back with something that seriously saps your energy?

I used to get it from GenCon nearly every year and many years attending a big scientific conference / trade show.

For me this one was spectacular. I wound up delaying my trip to australia for 2 days because my sinus were feeling like they were going to burst without cabin pressure changes. I don't want to imagine what the flight would have been like.

And in one of those silver linings, it turned out to be a good thing. The travel agency booked me to arrive in one airport and leave from another with a 2 hour layover, without mentioning this to me. I'm still stuck with the transfer but I have a bit more time to do it now.

Feeling a little better finally, it only took a week...

That would have been a painful transfer - in Australia between international & domestic?

it is common enough that people call it Con Crud.

Personally, I do many conventions every year and this is the first bout of illness I've experienced. I've been at this for over a decade and my sick free streak is now blown.

This particular crud was unusually bad. We are up to about 70 reported cases.

I go to a lot of conventions and trade shows both for work and for fun.  Occasionally, you will catch a strain that isn't common from where you are from.  However, this is the worst I've ever had it.  I actually went the doctor because it was so bad and he confirmed that I had a strain of influenza.  I did my best to isolate myself from staff/clients/family so as not to pass on the love.

Next year I think I'll wear a hazmat suit for my classes :zombie:

I'm on 8 days of suckage and the wife is on 6. She is starting to feel exactly as I did a few days ago.
