Only 359 more days till the Meet and Greet!!!   Per the magnet from the swag bag, ReaperCon 2016 is April 28-May1. (Like most timey wimey physics type sciences, this is is only an approximate time fra

I nabbed three silvers and a bronze, and the bronze trophy of the new "large monsters" special category

I got a silver for my swamp dragon! My First painting competition I was over the moon.   Celebrated with rather a large amount of alcohol and cards against humanity. Till what 2? AM I was fine

With tax and all our SWA flight was $330 for two ppl from Georgia. Coming in Weds and leaving Monday. Some might want to see if staying an extra night might be more cost effective than leaving on Sunday.

It's been a while since I've said it... I AM SO EXCITED TO MEET YOU PEOPLE!!! ::D: If it turns out that there's nothing official(ish) going on for the Wednesday evening, I'm sure we can set something up amongst ourselves. I'll probably be up for something fun that night as long as it leaves room for me to go to bed at a reasonable hour. (Being old and all. )

Oh I know Weds is the early night of the Con for me. Getting up early to catch the flight out & such. Thou if I can get that AA flight I won't have to this time around. Flight leaves around 8, so 6 am is a nice start to the day. Usually it's like 4 or so. I'll save that for when I leave.

Sorry, can't like that one, Ub3r.

Why not? If you aren't getting a refund it's most likely due to making over the bracket of income in which you get one.

This will most likely be the first year Todd and I don't get a refund and I can't honestly complain. We have joint income, no kids and both got better jobs last year. I have more money each month for buying stuff like minis or going to RCon.

All true, but he said there was the possibility of him owing the feds; that's the part I didn't like.

Back on topic; is it time yet? Is it time yet? Is it time yet? Is it time yet? Is it time yet?

First year to attend ReaperCon and my first post on these forums. I've booked a room for my wife and I but don't see where tickets are available. Casual reading of this long thread suggests that tickets go on sale a month or 3 before the Con...?

Any veterans of the convention care to share what we should expect?

Thanks for your time!

Tickets won't go on sale for a few months is my best guess.

What to expect:The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

No seriously, it's a blast, more like a family reunion than a convention. Except you like them more. Painters, gamers, and general weirdos all having a blast together.

Still too early to figure out my flight as I'm not 100% if I will be able to go this year.  I have a hotel room booked but I will have to travel solo.  If I do go, I will do my normal Wednesday to Monday trip as I like the both the meet and great as well as a relaxing dinner on the Sunday.

However, with Brad not going and not knowing Dan's schedule yet, it will be hard to organize any games.  It was also really tough to get people to the sessions we ran last year.

Decisions, decisions!

Well heck....

Out of curiosity I checked SW this morning. Knowing they fly into Love I don't check them as much as I should but the flight I'd like is only $168. Flight leaves at 740 am & arrives at 1:45 pm, stop over in Denver. Basically what my flight usually is coming into ReaperCon, just at a different airport.

Nonstop on American is around the same price but I'm thinkin of the upgrade to give me "free" bag & boarding priority. That one leaves around the same time but gets in at 1130 am..

Seriously thinking of cominh down with a 2nd bag to hold the extra rpg stuff I'm adding to my games. So the SW flight would be ideal. Still getting in early & my first non-stop to RCon is tempting. I'm coming home on Delta so I'll be paying for the bags on the way back.

Again, decisions, decisions decisions!!

In accordance with the title of May's hobby goal section, and getting a bit bored with using the same colors over and over, I decided to open up the Box of Waiting and found these....

(back left corner) 2 Wizkids Blink Hounds
(back to us as NSFW) Vampire with Victim
(big guy in the back) Dungeon Saga Zombie Ogre Wizard
(in front of Zombie Ogre) Dungeon Saga Necromancer
(right of Zombie Ogre) 2 Wizkids Ghouls
(right of Ghouls) Female Wraith from Graveyard Expansion
(next to Necromancer) Undead Wolf from Graveyard Expansion
(next to Wolf) Female Mad Scientist
      (next to Mad Scientist) Stone
(next to Stone) Reaper WW2 Zombie German
(last on right) Orc from Learn to Paint kit
(front rank) various Mousings from the Tavern Set and Thankgiving and Christmas Mouslings.
There's more, but this is everything that has had more than priming applied.

First up was the Female Mad Scientist, who was one of the first minis I bought when I got back into the hobby. I started on her not long before I left Austin, and while I was happy with how most of her came out, I got a bit lost in what to do with her base. Her weapon and smiting glove were also unfinished. There's a touch up on her face from where she got chipped in transit, but the patch doesn't seem to show in pictures. (yay!)

I got her weapons finished, a bit of purple on her hat ribbon, and the beginings of her base.

The wraith, wolf, and ghouls received a coat of black wash over the parts that were already gray, and the wraith and wolf got further applications of Storm Gray. The skin on the ghouls was a base of Vampire Skin washed with Rainy Gray. Now that I have the rest of the triad, I can start getting them highlighted.

Like last year, this thread is to find roommates and transit. Being the con isn't at the hotel rides may be more important.

My situation: Room full at 4 Wednesday through Monday.
Rides unknown as flights not booked, but looking at noonish arrival Wednesday, into dfw, out if dfw Sunday around 7, maybe Monday if I can get the time off then. Either way I'll need help with transit if possible.

      On your marks...get set...

With the announcement of the HGI block being filled up for RCon this year, thought I'd I ask where everyone will be staying for the con this year. Helps with getting together afterwards or even during the Con.

I'll be staying at Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) this year.

The ReaperCon painting competition is open to miniatures and models from all companies, In light of that fact we have started to invite other miniature manufacturers to provide prizes for the best painted version of their products at the show. Welcome to the House Procrastius Common Room.

      House Procrastius
      "Ego probabiliter ad cras"

Yeah, I know the other Houses got their rooms up before us.  Sorry, it took me awhile to get to it.  But you know, it still got done.  Got a little busy with stuff.  Anyway, have at it.  When you get a chance.  If you can't, it'll keep.

As a wise old teacher once said to me:

“Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well.â€
      - Mark Twain

Now, I think the teacher was trying to get me to turn my work in on time, but honestly, I loved Mark Twain, and it sort of had the opposite effect.
