This may be on the verge of crazy, but is there some way to incentivize adding money during the KS vs adding in pledge manager? I think a lot of people already know they will be adding a certain amount of money during pledge manager and wait because there is no reason not to. The cumulative effect probably does impact stretch goals and momentum.

My thought was a very small price increase like 5% for funds added after the close of the KS project. This would get the people who are already planning to add money during pledge manager phase to do it early, whilst not creating an insurmountable hardship for those who really did need to wait to add funds later.

So simply something like this: take amount pledged from KS and add 5% to credit balance, then all items price will increase by 5%. This way only funds added after KS closes have slightly less purchasing power.

5% is just a ballpark... maybe even lower % would have a good effect.

I can´t speak for the others, but I am sure I am not alone in this.

I am now living on a strict budget for my hobbies. Since I heard about BONES 3 I am saving my monthly hobby money for it, but won´t be enough for all I want. So the Pledge manager give me the chance to add stuff later, each month I will have a small sum of money (around 20 dollars) to add in my pledge.

In the last two KS, I pledge huge, but this one I will have to do it in parcels...

So, I am very very happy with the news (Thanks Kit!)

what an unexpected side effect!

So, with that in mind would you guys be willing to let us know the actual final dollar count when you do lock the pledge manager some time next year?

I don't think we've ever released concrete number for post-project additional funds raised. I think after Bones I we released a ballpark figure, but I'm not 100% certain. Unfortunately, I do have an NDA with Reaper, so I'm under strict controls for what information I can and cannot provide. Financial data is typically considered a big no-no.
I read it as "what is my final pledge total - after the many smaller additonal orders placed?"

No, no.  Bryan's got it right.  I wanted to know how much difference they ended up with as additional pledges.

Perhaps a comment of 'If this had all been pledged in kickstarter we would have ran out of stretch goals' remark?

For me the pledge manager additional fund option is mostly handy because it gives me time to chase down straggler friends who expressed an interest in piggybacking my pledge but take their sweet time figuring out what they want and paying up.  Some even decide not to, which is why I never pledge on their behalf in advance.

And at least one came along four months after I had locked in my Bones II pledge, which I did almost at the last minute waiting on them, and declared:  "So, hey, yo... I went to, like, the kickstarter thingy but it won't let me pledge.  Says it's over or something."

Yeah... gotta love friends like that. I post about it on FB, G+, and my blog... how much more can I do to get to you people?!?

Yeah I had a friend who asked for some add-ons during bones2 that I wasn't very interested in. Once fulfillment was over it seems like he is just considering them part of my collection and I'm eating the cost  ::(:

Regarding the pledge manager price increase, would you be willing to pay a few% more on funds added after KS close, if it meant 2 more stretch goals were reached at the end of the campaign?

They're called "Stretch Goals".

Yeah, I don't think much is lost off the KS total due to the pledge manager being open later. People generally pledge what they can afford to pledge and then will add more when they have more money.

Didn't all the stretch goals get unlocked for Bones II?

I believe they had more that weren't shown. We were passing stretch goals at a crazy quick pace, but the next one that would've been after "thank you" would've been too high to hit in the time allotted.

I guess but the last stretch goal wasn't anything and they never posted another one with like an hour left if I remember correctly. I thought we could have hit another one if they would have posted it. Better to post something and not hit it and get the extra pledges, than to post nothing.

Oh man being able to add RIGHT up until the boat hits the water means I might actually be able to get EVERYTHING I want instead of having to pick and choose. I might even get 2 core sets...or 2 tianots...oh this is bad

This is very cool. But how does this not hurt Reaper? How do they plan for an unknown amount of stuff people will add last minute?
