Reaper Miniatures Bones 3, Launches July 7th

Has there been any mention of looking to get an EU distributor? I would love to back a third KS, but shipping and taxes spoils the fun.

A delay is good news for me ... one or two months would be perfect. September not so much ... October would be nice again. But if the Euro stays so weak compared to the Dollar (or even drops more), it will be difficult, as it's not just the pledge level to pay, but shipping and import duties, too. No way of using a shipping hub within the European Union to at least spare us the import duties? Stupid question ... you'd have to pay them then, wouldn't you?

I talked with my girlfriend about my hobby of miniatures a few months ago. Conclusion was that I also like collecting, painting is also fun, but just having them already is a good reason to back. So I am totally going to again! :) Saving money is a go ;)

Reminds me, lets paint some more while I can!

Oh and yes on the EU distributor! The taxes are not fun indeed. Then again the taxes are a year later and then it feels cheap, but still! Very small kickstarters, to really big ones, have been able to manage? Petty please?

This. Very very much! Import tax charges plus control costs are like 50% in some cases, which is extremely annoying.

As you said, almost all KS companies, even the smaller ones, manage to get a EU distribution point - so why not Reaper?!

The least they can so is offer custom services, like even a lot of eBay sellers do.

A big party of the problem with a EU distributor is that as the number of items to pack goes up the more expensive the distributor. And then there's the potential for errors, with the corrections having to come from TX. A potential option might be a core only EU distribution or core plus only any expansions, like the ones in Bones II, reached might be an option.

I don't think anyone blames Reaper for not getting it done or not trying. This sort of stuff is probably a lot more complicated then it looks on the outside. For example for me it looks like 'then who is paying them taxes?' I think we can only hope some sort of deal can be struck. :) /cheer Reaper

Hmmmm....

Release pics of a 2ft tall, 5 headed dragon...

Big fan reaction to 2ft tall, 5 headed dragon...

Announce delay on campaign...

Is anyone else thinking there's a 3ft tall, 6 headed dragon on the horizon?

(But not a 4ft tall, 7 headed dragon.  That'd just be ridiculous.)

Fireforge games will be launching their dwarf faction for their Forgotten World range. I really enjoyed their northmen line which were basically game of thrones not Stark warriors. They had undead in that same Kickstarter.

so these will be heroic 28mm hard plastic multipart figures. This is what’s been shown so far.

There will also be foot troops with spears and hand weapons. And both male and female will be on sprue.

they haven’t confirmed yet, but if it follows with their other Kickstarter, there should be resin shields and resin heroes available too.

I was a little surprised to not see this already here.  I just got a 48 hour notification on a game called "Lurkers of the Deep" - it's apparently an expansion to a miniatures game, but in addition to the game they're also selling a bunch of 20s/30s pulp/cthulhu style minis.  (And a number of buildings, too.)  I'm not interested in the game, but I put down a 30 pound pledge to get a bunch of the figures and get the various free stretch goals figures.

There's only another 46 or so hours left, so I guess that means it ends early on March 1st.

My partner for the Secret Sophie exchange this year was NecroMancer and they requested demons or some other stuff, so I painted the Queen of Hell.  About the same time I had ordered a 3D printer and I had found a base that kind of matched an idea I had in my head.  The printer was going to ship on time, then it wasn't, then it was, and finally came in just in time to print my display base. It is from the celestial pack by Archvillain Games. It's 100mm plus some overhang. For a bit of additional flair I added some blood imps to the base.

One thing about pre-made display bases though is they can be next to impossible to actually use if they are not designed well.  This base is an example of that as there is so much rubble that I had to carve away spaces for feet or build up the area with a bit of milliput to give them something to stand on. Since ancient statues were actually painted I decided to go with that and put a simple face on the bit of statue that remained.

The Queen was actually painted before my printer arrived and because things hadn't gone crazy at work yet, I actually had time to paint her properly.  I went for a stylized NMM on her armor.  It was the first time I had tried NMM this way.  It worked but I need some more practice to really sell it.  I didn't want her to look like some cheap plastic figure (even though she kinda is ) so instead of going red like the blood imps I made her skin mostly human and then put the orange/red/purples in the midtones and shadows.

Her wings don't fit in my tiny photo setup so...

And with wings. They were not attached for shipping and needed a bit of support, so ignore the paint bottle.  Bones are evil.  Mold lines suddenly appear everywhere.  And for better or for worse, a year from now her wings will sink toward the earth, but they should rotate and touch the base.

A few extra pics I took, if anyone wants to look

I have me a bit of a dubious, largely because I'm not certain these will, in fact, work for anybody. But. Still.. the concept is pretty damn cool.

"Tilt Five is a whole new way to play games, in Augmented Reality (AR), with freaking holograms!
When you slip on the Tilt Five glasses and look at the game board, a vibrant 3D world opens up to you.  Suddenly chasms seem to drop infinitely into your table, and game characters and monsters spring up from the game board.  This is gaming unlike anything you've experienced before.
"When we started designing the Tilt Five system our focus wasn't on the technology for technology's sake.  We wanted to provide an amazing gaming experience that blends the things you love about video games and board games. And we wanted it to be just as fun when playing solo, together with your friends, or even when you're apart."  Jeri Ellsworth, Co-Founder & CEO "

Be interesting to see if this lives up to itself.
