Resolutionary Painting Challenge! Does June Bug anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Bet you're thinking of the little invasive insect? I delight to inform you, you are wrong.
Also: while the enthusiasm is appreciated, please do not post the monthly threads ahead of these. If I cannot post the monthly thread for some reason, then it will be posted by Flamehawke per the established format with the appropriate information.

Please see page 1 here for rules and guidelines/questions. This is also the chatter thread here:  The first post as linked will contain the updated totals and grand total now and the plan is to start getting the graphics sent to all who have completed the months so far soon

a reminder when submitting to please adhere to the forum show off guidelines. This is a much bigger challenge than I expected and it makes life easier for the mods

Also, please only create a single index post for your links. This means to modify your existing post when you get a new figure finished instead of posting a new one.

This month's challenge is: 4.

Bonus Challenge is:

Way back when, Cartoon Network would hold a 48 hour marathon of Bugs Bunny Cartoons, called June Bugs. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is paint at least 1 figure as a Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies character.

The deadline Is planned for July 1 Midnight, RST. (Reaper Standard Time).
And in the wise words of Yosemite Sam:
Clear out, ya lily-livers!

4 for the exchanges, something new to try
12 for the monsters, who in the dungeons moan
7 for the competition, to please the judges eye
19 for the table top, which will set the tone
9 for the players, doomed to see their characters die
One for the master painter on his ergonomic throne
In the well lit studio where no shadows lie
one tag to hue them all, one tag to bind them
one tag to bring them all and in the forum find them.
In the well lit studio where no shadows lie

I may just do another 4-5 Orcs.

I know which Looney Tunes characters I'd like to do but suitable figures, hmmmm.

Edit: forgot I had this post. Showoff thread I did not do any Orcs after all. Got nowhere on that theme. Link to redundant post.

This month I am once again at the Mountains of Minis, delving into them with gusto, having done mould-line carving, scrubbing, boiling, assembling etc a large portion of the roughly 20-ish minis I got in the Bones 2 shipment. And sacrificing the required amounts of fingerblood, of course.
At any rate, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total.
Seeing as I am momentarily sick of the bendy bones, I have painted some metal minis for a change.
Hereby I present a new series entitled At the Mountains of Minis: The Unspeakable Mouth
Which showcases minis with slightly overstated eating orifices (well, what did you think it would be about?)

At the Mountains of Minis: The Unspeakable Mouth vol 1: Chainmail Abyssal Maw

At the Mountains of Minis: The Unspeakable Mouth vol 2: Hell Dorado Damned One of Gluttony

Completing squads: Mars Attacks! Martian Grunts and Marines

Cowboys and Spacemen: More Zombies

EVEN MOAR ZOMBIES!!!:  Bones 2 Zombies

Total minis completed so far this month: 23

Oh jeez, I have failed horribly at this challenge. Lets see if I can get back in the swing of things for June.

1. Platypod- done

2. Shoamita

3. Frumitty- done

4. The monster for them to fight- undecided

5. Echidnox

So failed again, unless getting partially done with a big ol bust, prepping 2 huge minis and starting a base count. :-) I've been busy, just not completey

# 10 Goblin Spell caster http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62575-goblin-spellcaster-9289/?p=1162691

I'm assuming I only need one thread for the bugbear batch, and that Mr Pointy doesn't need his own thread.

June Minis

1-5. DDSII Terrain Pieces Only http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62309-77381-ddsii-terrain-pieces-only/

6. Dark Sword sleeping fox http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=84688 (link for proof)

Awesome technically I met the goal with some terrain pieces, let's see if I manage to finish anything else. I have two minis started but they are going to take a long time for me so who knows June may see one or two more.

Good luck everyone can't wait to see what everyone paints up.

From the Bones 4 core set, this is the subset called "Classic Horror", #130 through #135.
A take on some of the monsters of the 1930's Universal movies series fame, with both male and female counterparts. I based the Mummy on a 35x25mm base as his integral base was both scenic and rather wide and I did not want to cut it down. The others are based on 30mm round lipped bases.

I am slowly working through the Bones 4 core set. Today we come to #13, the Warrior of Chaos. I don't know what Reaper is calling this mini, if they even have a name for it yet. I imagine it would be something like "Bloodcurdle Angerpants, Anti-Paladin" or "Gruff McDuff, Evil Fighter". (Feel free to use these names, Reaper )
But it clearly is a Warrior of Chaos.

This model has the look, what with horned helmet, bulky full plate, skulls, straps, furry shoulders, heavy cloth cloak and the tower shield.
...and I was going to put a picture of a chaos warrior from the GW webstore here for comparion, but they obviously did not want me to, so that did not happen. No matter.
Did I say Warrior of Chaos? This is clearly a Champion of Chaos, what with such a massive rock to put their foot upon! Feet, even!
I had to base it on a 40mm base. Champion sized at that.

I have the higher ground! You cannot win! Also, I have a full set of Chaos Armour and all you have are tighty whiteys!

should be available from reapermini.com some time in the future

A large mini ragepainted sloppyfast in under an hour just to blow off some steam and get it off the tray it has been standing around for ages on.
Well, large mini I say. Compared to most other dragons of the Bones kickstarters, this one is rather smallish.
However, back in the day when heavy metal was king, this mini would be considered a large miniature of a dragon.

Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites.
We have a high volume of posts generated from this challenge, which is great! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.
As an experiment, this project has been moved to be a bi-monthly challenge again, that seemed to have worked so until further notice that is our format. The longer time frame theoretically will give less stress to painting, and allow more complex jobs, and more sinister challenges.
      Reaper only? - No.
If going on vacation, can I paint a mini(s) ahead to cover that time frame? - Yes.
Are speed paints acceptable - Yes.
Can it be a mini started previously? - Yes.
      Based or unbased? - Yes.
Do minis for exchanges count? - Yes.
      NEW RULE - Size Equivilancy
(This list is subject to change as bones 3 releases)
Medium and smaller = 1 ea
Simple Terrain (plain floors, walls) = 1ea
Complex Terrain (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Terrain/latest/03518 or such) = 2 ea
Large (Giants and the like) = 2 ea
Huge (Most dragons, Demon Minotaur Lord, etc) = 3 ea
Bigger (Kally, Khanjirra, etc) = half of quota rounded up
      Colossal ("Tianot,") = quota
Due to the variable nature of a CAV I compare them against a generic 28mm figure and the Avatar large figure. I take height and bulk into considering if it is worth 1 or 2 figures.
If it's not in this list, it counts as 1. (not yet updated for the CAV II figures)
If you have a question on the size, please post it here, and I'll address them individually.
Much like last year, the idea is to help those of us that normally paint VERY little or not as much as one would like, to start painting more.
      You challenge begins...now!
      And Our Mantra:
If your name is missing, or you believe your count is incorrect, please PM me. Please note: to make counts easier, post in the bi-monthly thread and include the tag RPChallenge
      The objective:
To paint 52+ minis throughout the course of the year via bi-monthly quota
(each bi-monthly thread will have the quota listed as well as the master list)
      What qualifies:
      Darn near anything!
      Any material!
Shelf of shame minis from ages long forgotten!
      Exchange minis!
      Speed paints!
Armies! (Though I'd encourage perhaps something outside the army as well)
      Any Size!
Etc! (I think that covers everything)
      Year long challenge
Pick a miniature of size large or greater to complete in the Jan-Feb Block. In Nov-December, purchase that same mini and repaint in the same scheme to see direct side-by-side improvement or changes in your methods
