Gourls Paints 77315: Fire Demon

Finished the balor fire demon that my roommate got from his Bones II fulfillment that I started forever ago tonight. There are some things I could do to make him better, but honestly I'm kind of sick of looking at him and painting over him. I've never painted anything this size before. I learned quite a bit. Like that I should probably paint before assembling (which fills me with dread because I already assembled the minotaur demon and I want to paint him too). Anyway, I haven't seen many of this guy painted yet. He's a fun sculpt I think. I was going for sort of lightning runes on his sword, but I don't yet know/have the brush control/have a small enough brush to be able to pull that off. So. Blue it is for now.

Love what you have done.

I would recommend that you start adding in your shadows, dark tones before you move on to adding your major colors.

Translation:  base your mini colors, then do a black and white photo of it, then start making lights and darks .

if you added green (the compliment to red) into your recesses, you would have gotten higher contrast,

and that makes your mini come to life.

(Just wanting to see you make it magnificent )..

I see! Thank you for the advice. I never thought about trying to do a black and white photo of the mini after I'd based it all. I'll try that with a smaller mini and see how that makes it pop more.

Agree with jasonator and as an add print out a copy of a color wheel
