Meh. Gen Con was a THING back when they were still holding it in Lake Geneva. Nowadays... I dunno. Seems like a somewhat smaller version of Comic-Con: expensive, way too crowded, way too directed, and no fun. Liked it way better when it was smaller.

Watches Doc suddenly transform into and aging Hipster. ::P:  I'm sorry I didn't realize I was standing in your lawn.

Ye gods, I do miss it being in Wisconsin though. Even with the awful that was parking in Milwaukee.

So for what it's worth, it looks like I will be skipping Pathfinder on Saturday night. I can (potentially) be free then too.

Should I send my contact info to anybody?

James, do you have a time in mind for Wednesday evening?

Did you attend one that was actually in Lake Geneva? The first one I went to was XII the second year at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside campus in Kenosha. That would be the second one after they moved from Lake Geneva.

Sounds good I'll look for people donning paintbrushes. I shall be the girl with dark curly hair and a blue dragon tattoo. If anyone wants to meet a bit earlier I am good anytime after dinner.

I made it to Indy today, anyone driving I70 west from PA. There is a delay by the i470 -I 70 junction one lane traffic. But otherwise it was fairly calm. Safe travels everyone.

Gen Con Meet Up Opportunities!

Ok, The 'Un'Official Official Plan is to for Dinner Thursday 6PM at the Mall food court. (Because trying to get reservations for an unknown number of people at one of the places near the convention center is impossible.)

   - How to get to the Circle Center Mall Food Court from the Serpentine Lobby Second floor (Where the Paint and Take is)

        1. Take the Sky Bridge connected to the convention center towards the parking garage/hyatt/mall

        2. You will pass the Hyatt, and go up a set of escalators and turn a corner on the sky bridge. Soon after you will see the turn off for the Mall

        3. Take the sky bridge towards the mall, and just after you enter the mall there will be a set of escalators

        4. Take the Escalators to Level 3 (Should be more level up from the sky bridge)

        5. Follow the hallway in front of you until it hits the main Mall thoroughfare, Turn LEFT

        6. Follow this to the end of the Mall, you will be in the food court

        7. I will find as large of a section of open tables as I can so we can all sit together and enjoy each others time. I will be wearing a TOASTY bbq shirt, because why not.

        8. Map of the Mall and the Mall Food court: http://www.simon.com/mall/circle-centre/map

Other Events:

Evil James and I are in the Dark Sword Speed painting on Friday at Noon

   - 2nd floor Serpentine Lobby along the windows near the Paint & Take

   - If you would like to participate, there are always at least 4 tickets left unsold, in general show up at least a 1/2 hour before the event (They run hourly), but for the Friday one, I would suggest almost an hour early. I will be around and hanging out in the area at that time.

Watch this thread for other things as they come up!

OK then. Sadly, I have a party from about 10-1. If you plan to be there at 9, I'll stop by to say hi, but, unfortunately, I won't be able to stay.

Update: change in plans for me. I'll be able to hang around and paint for a whole. See you at 9.

I have to say I don't miss Milwaukee.  I liked Indy a lot more, but lately I think GenCon has gotten too big and strayed too far from its gamer roots.  I miss the excitement but the last couple times were more stressful and annoying than fun.

I was planning to have some friends of mine pick up a few things for me, until I priced them. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate, but it seems to me that they slap "Con Exclusive" on something, and then jack the price through the roof.

Almost over...how did everyone do in their speed paint sessions? I was in the Wyrd Minis 5:00 session yesterday, which was an interesting experience, not unlike a wargame club group painting session. It turns out that I'll be in the final round today at 1:00. I was glad I was in the round I was, though, with a zombie dog of some sort to paint, rather than in the previous round, with some sort of huge steam golem. I'll put a picture in show-off...
