tiniest rhombus
They're here! I love them already! I have not tried them. Lol. I don't have anymore time this afternoon to play around with them but so far I've added agitators and poked the holes in 2 sets. The shades of doom- man those colors, gorgeous! The metal and alchemy copper- again, the colors...dang. The pigments are so fine in these! I can't wait to use them. Tuma might get his buckles and such painted sooner than expected.

knarthex
Mine are sideways now. The best "tip" I have for mixing them (seriously, this has improved the shaking and mixing a LOT for me), is take the pot with my strong hand (right in this case), grip it tight inside a fisted hand with the bottom of the pot overhanging the lower side of my hand. Then, hard, slam said bottom against my other hand's open palm. I do that 3 or 4 times, THEN I give it a good shake. Apparently the quick hard hits brake the concentration on the bottom of the pot quite a bit allowing the shaking to move them around and mix. Since I do this, I get a lot less "gel medium" out of the pot, and a more smooth paint overall. SECOND THIS STRONGLY! It also helps 'break' the agitator (You did put one in?) loose to help with the mixing. I then spin mine with a cordless drill and a tool that I made... I cup my hand around it to prevent accidents... I spin it for about a minute, moving it up, down, sideways etc to try and mix everything up as best I can. George I don't usually quote myself, but Here is Les Bursley's YouTube video on 'spinning paint'... Hope it helps! George
knarthex
Another couple of thoughts for those of you getting you first Scale 75 paints: YOU HAVE TO POKE A HOLE IN THE TIP!!!!! If you try to get paint out without doing this, you are going to have a mess, and waste a lot of paint! Don't shake the bottle before you Poke the Hole in the tip! This way the tip will have as little paint as possible in it when you put it back on the bottle! Don't Poke The Hole in the tip on the Bottle! Good way to make a mess that.... Do put clear tape around the Color printed on the label! There have been consistent reports that this wears off quickly. Better safe than sorry.... Do put an agitator in the Bottle! Scale 75 paints tend to be a little thicker than other mini paints, you need the agitator for good mixing! Here is the way I do it: I put a strip of Scotch Tape around the label. Unscrew the cap, set it aside Remove the tip from the bottle, and poke your hole. (I use a 3/64" drill bit in my pin vise) Drop an agitator into the bottle. (I use size 5 split shot) This clears the neck of the bottle of paint. Put the tip back into the Bottle while gently squeezing the bottle a little bit. As you push the tip in, slowly stop squeezing. This will suck any paint in the tip back into the bottle Shake well. Add a drop of paint to the cap. Hope that helps you out! (46 more bottles to go... ) George Edit---> I have not used my new Fantasy & Games Paint yet, but from the sound of shaking the bottles it is thinner than the Scale color paint, as others have reported. Edit #2---> Some of these Fantasy & Games paints already have their tips poked.... Very strange, as ALL the Scale Color needed to be poked, and the first 16 of this set did as well.... Edit #3---> In the Orcs and Goblins set I received, some of the tips had holes, others did not. CHECK EVERYTHING! (trust no one) Edited January 10, 2016 by knarthex
czebas
/wants to order paints Someone suggest to the Mr to let me order paints. If enough people do it, he might let me. o_o I can share with you an excerpt of an unwritten stage play I'm working on: Husband: hey honey, you really look great today. (man lifts coffee cup to his mouth, eyeing her over the brim. Gauging for effect) Wife: Mmm hmm (she continues making a child a sandwich for lunch) Husband: Yeah it was pretty tough at work this week. (he brings his cup down and plays with the brim of the cup with his thumb... his face takes on a more resolute expression and he continues) Yeah with the christmas hours we have all put in we should probably have some extra money and I was thinking... (woman slowly turns around while he is talking and makes eye contact, and in the most feminine of ways purses her lips and lifts one eyebrow. The man trails off when he looks into her eyes and brings his coffee cup to his mouth, breaking eye contact and moves past her out of the kitchen.)

Those aer some great tips, sure wish I'd read them before the poking of the tops commenced. Oh well, losing a drop or two of paint from each bottles not going to hurt. Less messy but no big loss. knarthex
Question to anyone out there with any of the Fantasy and Games 8 pack sets, The Scale color sets all had a set of so called 'instructions' on how to paint things with the colors in the set. I assumed that there would be the same kind of thing in the F&G sets, and that they would be included in the complete set package. There were no instructions of that type. So do the individual 8 pack sets have these little cards in them? Thanks for any info. George
Silvervane
I got the creatures from hell F&G set and mine came with an instruction card on a few different painting methods. Though that is the only set I have from the F&G line, so I cant speak for the other sets.
ub3r_n3rd
Those instructions are pretty awful, George. Maybe the large pack you got just doesn't come with them. You can always email Scale Games and I'm sure they'll send you them tho. Edited January 10, 2016 by ub3r_n3rd
MissMelons
The Mr hasade the offer of getting a cat instead of paints. His negotiation skills are getting better. Edit: Also cyzba, that sounds A LOT like conversations we have every couple of months! We're due for another one, probably about getting him a new chair or upgrading his pc. Let's just say he's hoping I get that job so I can spoil him for a change. (his stuffs more expensive though!!! Gahhh :p) Edited January 10, 2016 by MissMelons
