Willen
Sorry Bath, I probably misquoted. Knarthex, there are horror stories so I believe it's better to be safe than sorry. There are a lot of things inside a paint mix and adding something extra might be trying your luck.
Curse These Metal Hands
While I really love the look of those colors - particularly the blues and reds - and I'm really curious to try Scale75 to see for myself why so many people rave about them, I can't quite make myself pull the trigger on an order. Plus, the lack of free shipping gnaws at me a little; that's money I could be using to buy miniatures or more paints! I guess all my favorite online retailers have spoiled me in that regard.

Willen, I appreciate the warning, But the lead split shot is there as the marble. That is more likely to harm the paint than water and something designed to put in the paint I would think... 8) George Edited September 3, 2015 by CashWiley removed commerce
Curse These Metal Hands
Okay, you talked me into it. I wasn't really planning on spending that much on paints this month, but... Eh. It's only money, and money is just money, but paints are wonderful little bottles of joy.
galladril
I got a chance to use mine this weekend. I have to agree about the metallics, and in general, the paint line is absolutely solid. I had already spent a bit on them.....and today I bought the rest of them, so with the exception of the inks, which I will probably be getting around 9/15, I have all of the initial offering.....86? It seems that the sale they ran netted them a LOT of business, and all of us seem to be getting in our sets, so now we all get to play. I am really curious to know more about their Fantasy and Games line. Reviews on Scale 75 (in general) are difficult to come by, but looking up reviews for that particular line is like looking for water in a desert. The few posts that I have read are saying they are as thin as Reaper, and if that is the case, they are just not for me. I love them because they are thick. And.... The Fantasy Scale75 were breaking up with just water. Posts like that worry me. I know that Bathory got it to work with flow-aid, and a concotion, but I don't wanna play mad-scientist. I just wanna paint. If anyone can give a little more info regarding F&G, it would help. Thanks! MissMelons
I haven't had a problem with the fantasy line. But I always use flow aid and water now. No real measurements. The water comes from whatever I already have on the brush plus a drop of flow aid per two drops of scale75. Yeah, the fantasy line is noticeably thinner than the other line but the pigment is super strong. I have yet to use these paints as a wash but I bet it's beautiful.

I think the fantasy line is fantastic if you like to thin your paints and they still have amazing translucency and strong pigment. They are amazing for glazines and I also would imagine the wases would be awesome. All depends what your paint style is. If I had thick paints I would probably spend half the night thinning them :D I can't post my current mini on here (bewbs) but the fantasy line is super vivid and she has red pink hair and bright green skin.
Marineal
Alright. I did it. I ordered the flesh set. I've been eyeing them for a while, and when I emailed them to ask a question they answered me politely and sent me the link to the US distributor. Good customer service pushed me over. So, when I get them, I'll let y'all know what I think. ;) As far as the price, if we pay around $4 (rounding up) per pot for RSP, it's $34 (after shipping and discount code) for 8, which is right in line. I'm excited.

czebas
I'm not a huge fan of the scale 75 acrylic thinner and I think that there are many equivalent options that can be made diy for significantly cheaper amounts per ounce or other companies premade acrylic thinner. I seem to get a lot of tip dry with scalecolor thinner as opposed to vallejo airbrush thinner. What do you guys think?

Have had good luck with GW thinned with the Tamaya thinner, No luck at all with Vallejo Game Color. (I know they make the Model Air, but I don't have any of that line.) I have heard about 'dry tip' before, not sure what it is, I don't think I have had it happen to me.... What recipes for air brush thinner do you use? Can you post something in the airbrushing thread about them? Thanks 8) George

I've not had any issues with their thinner... and yes to a lot of homemade solutions.VMC Thinner works nicely but I don't have large amounts of it either, and I think it was more expensive per pot than their own thinner. I would love to hear your experiences with it. @knarthex: dry tip is a reference to the accumulated dry paint on the surface of the tip of the needle, causing sputters usually. If the dry tip goes further along the needle and to the nozzle, it clogs the airbrush too. Vallejo paints react badly to isopropyl alcohol, Tamiya thinner is basically iso dilluted with water, so they do not work well together. When combined with usual alcohols, Vallejo paints separate into clumps.
