Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Wow, after 10 minutes my pledge is still "processing".  I don't know if I'm in wave 1 or if I'm going get rejected and have to go 2 or 3, but it won't even let me change my pledge to voluntarily choose the later one just so I can be sure.

It seems you may have broken KS.

Nice to see that rest of the world is being treated as second class citizens again with regards to postage.

Nevertheless, pledge made...

You can't expect Reaper to eat the cost of international shipping. It'd be one thing if it was at all close to the cost of U.S. shipping but it is not.

Don't expect Reaper to meet the cost of international shipping at all. But US Shipping is free - i.e. subsidised by the campaign and receiving a discount from it and thus everyones contributions. ROW shipping is at cost. If US shipping was at cost, then all is fair. This is not the case so there's a lot of European people especially peed off at this.

Don't pretend things are fair and equitable if they are demonstrably not.

Nevertheless, Pledge made. Bring on that dragonny goodness...

US shipping is almost a flat cost compared to the exponential growth that overseas shipping sees.

Irrelevant.

In fact, if the cost is really that flat, why aren't ROW backers given that same cost as a discount off the shipping?

Just saying...

To anyone who already has a Marthrangul, are the joints as obvious in the mini as they appear to be there? I've had a few other dragons, and the joints seemed much more seamless than those appear in the image, which makes me... dubious...

I'll have to look at mine (knock the 10 years of dust off it in the process.

I don't recall them being that obvious thou, maybe where the wings meet the body but not the limbs.

If you chose Wave 1 and are processing, it'll just overcount on that pledge.  We're at 2059 of 2000 already.  I saw that happen in other kickstarters where there were a very limited number of pledges available and lots of people who wanted it.

My pledge was processed in about ten seconds, and I thought it was disturbingly long. Thanks for all the input; I realize now that I was incredibly lucky.

I've said this before, and I'll likely say it again:  if it's a problem for you, then look into the possiblity of using a reshipper from the US.  That way you can have complete control of the shipping to your country and you can take advantage of the free shipping within the US.

Last time I checked this in Bones II however, Reaper was offering a sufficiently low cost shipping option that it was about 20% cheaper to get them to ship it out to me rather than to go through my reshipper.

Also, if VAT or GST or any other duties are an issue for you, check out your countries regulations and see if there's a limit that you don't get charged shipping on.  For me, here in NZ, that worked out to about $240 US last time, which is why I split my order into two seperate shipments.

I'm stuck at processing, too. I understand if I don't get Wave 1, even though it still said it was available. But if I miss out on Wave 2 (or even 3 or 4) I'll be pretty bummed.

Agreed.  I was listed in the first 50 backers when I made my pledge. if they determine my wave by when the pledge gets processed, I'll be mightily peeved that KS bumped several thousand people ahead of me in line.

I thought I was the same time zone as Texas but it's only 9:25 am here and the kickstarter's rolling. Pledged my $100 and am backer 1986 on wave 2. Now that's done I can relax and wait and see what opens up later.

23 minutes and still processing!

Someone put a coin in the old electricity meter.

Only 18 people had registered for Wave 1 when I had pledged.

I didnt do too much detail on these guys.  I was mostly just using up paint that I had mixed for my goblins.  Im not entirely a fan of these guys but I figured Id paint them up anyone for a Tundra themed campaign Im working on.

      Peter Paul Rubens 1577-1640

Rubens's depiction of males is equally stylized, replete with meaning, and quite the opposite of his female subjects. His male nudes represent highly athletic and large mythical or biblical men. Unlike his female nudes, most of his male nudes are depicted partially nude, with sashes, armour, or shadows shielding them from being completely unclothed. These men are twisting, reaching, bending, and grasping: all of which portrays his male subjects engaged in a great deal of physical, sometimes aggressive, action.

I added a twist, lean, and adjusted his neck.

This past week I painted the Behir figure from the Bones 3 "Stoneskull" Expansion, as I work my way through the remaining figures I haven't painted yet from that set while waiting for the arrival of Bones 4.

My party always seems to have a menagerie of animals... here is one of them. Is it wrong to find a donkey cute?

And here is a fire giant I finished recently. I was much happier with him, but the photos reveal some sloppiness! In hand, he's great for the table and I feel satisfied. I'm currently working on a third, so let's see how that goes!
