Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

DMing is very different from a kickstarter, considering budgeting also matters.  Easier for many people to know earlier what costs they may need to account for.  For example, if i know now i need to get $200 for this, that's fine; i may be able to sell some stuff before the end of teh campaign.  But if i find that out with a few days left, that's a bit annoying.

It's clearly not as simple as I laid out, if you want to do a full comparison. But for the sake of explaining the requirement of anticipation, I feel that my comparison was accurate.

If we really wanted to explain why DMing and running a KS are two very different things, we can get in a very long discussion with some terrible details.

And, further to that, my point was not to say that the anticipation is the only thing why they do not release too many stretch goals at a time. It's a factor though.

i can agree on teh anticipation thing, but as i find more expenses in real life that need to be dealt with, knowing as much info ahead of time is alot more useful to my wife and i than worrying about excitement over some plastic figures :)

it seems the campaign is moving slower than b1 and 2..but maybe i just dont remember them as well...

Bones 2 had a bigger initial push and fairly empty middle, but the kicktraq for Bones 1 shows  a single upward curve the entire time.

The attempt this time is to spread out that initial push into the middle doldrums and keep people pledging/upping the pledge the entire time.

ok i just saw this ... this looks quite cool (not big enough IMHO, but cool nonetheless):

agreed, I like this, but it would be better if it was a bit bigger than the pre-painted red put out several years ago

Ideally, something like tiamat would be, standing on all fours, 2-3 ft tall IMHO.  considering she's a god that can alter size (3.XE divine rules), etc she should be as epic as possible :)

and it would just look awesome.

Kinda like the Forgeworld Warlord Titan which i think is 2 ft tall? (althoguh artwork makes it appear like it should be 4-6 ft tall like the ones GW has in their large battle scenes at Gamesday UK).

...not big enough???

there was a prepainted collosal red dragon put out as part of the DDM line some years back.  pictures can be found via google  one site lists it at about 16 inches tall and it is sitting on its backside reared up and breathing fire at thr ground.  overall size is hard to compare between pictures, but I think this one is bigger at lerast in the body.

I believe that for the scope of this project, the size you are asking for is beyond the realm of possibility. We are only beginning to experiment with larger figures than were possible in metal, and are doing so gradually (since we are risk-averse). Perhaps in the future we will comfortable with such a model, but for this project I will say No.
