Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Dumb question(s): When adding on after the KS ends, the KS prices remain available to anyone who backed during the project's run, right? I know I paid more for Bones 2 (though still got a great deal) going only through the manager and not Kickstarter, but that's only because I was an after-the-fact Wave-10 schmuck, right?

I have a friend I'm trying to convince to $1 it now, as he's too broke to do more, and I don't want to misinform him (and, heck, I can see my wanting to add more later, too).

Yes.  Bryan and Ladystorm have both confirmed.  Back via Kickstarter, get the Kickstarter rates during the Pledge Manager.

So when it comes to priming bones can I use any liner or just brown, I would prefer grey

I've done grey and blue liner with the same good results as brown liner.

Red, Green, Blue, Brown, Grey, Violet liner all work fine on Bones.  Red, Green, Violet were discontinued, but the KS is bringing back Red and Green.

As long as you have a valid pledge associate with the same e-mail address, you pay the price shown during the Project. Whether you pledged $1 or $9,999 ( the maximum pledge allowed).

If you have no pledge, you pay an inflated price, roughly 30-50% higher than listed.

Ideally, something like tiamat would be, standing on all fours, 2-3 ft tall IMHO.  considering she's a god that can alter size (3.XE divine rules), etc she should be as epic as possible :)

and it would just look awesome.

Kinda like the Forgeworld Warlord Titan which i think is 2 ft tall? (althoguh artwork makes it appear like it should be 4-6 ft tall like the ones GW has in their large battle scenes at Gamesday UK).

I believe that for the scope of this project, the size you are asking for is beyond the realm of possibility. We are only beginning to experiment with larger figures than were possible in metal, and are doing so gradually (since we are risk-averse). Perhaps in the future we will comfortable with such a model, but for this project I will say No.

Something to point out is that the photo is of the enormous cardboard prop set up for gameday not the actual minis. The final mini that only came out this year was a much more manageable, but still large, size and only available in resin.

Hoping the great worm (won't call it purple cause well you can paint it that) can make it in before the end.

As far as the dragon mixup in B1. While I would have love to seen Neth at its intended size, espically after seeing the resin one (alas no cash at the time) the sheer size of Kally 2 does make up for it. Either way both are great looking undead dragon minis.

Ladies of negotiable affection

hehehehe

I use civilians alll the time I run encounters with main objectives, secondary objectives, bonus objectives and secret objectives.

Save the townspeople locked in the church by the soldiers who have set it on fire, escort them to safety, don't let them burn to death or be hacked to death or shot with arrows, etc. Secret bonus was to escort kitten out of church as the burning roof collapsed.  Bonus objectives during that episode was save the little grey kitten 3 times from danger, and yep I have cat minis!

Had another one where a woman was in labor during the big fight as a bonus objective.

Nice. Yes we use townspeople for RP-scenarios so that players can visualize and be involved, as well as be taught putting minis down on a map does not immediately have to mean combat.

Use them like above, as potential people to escort or NPCs that are travelling with the party and need to be protected each combat.

And use them as general townspeople who might be in a town and need to be saved from invading pirates or burning/exploding buildings.

Also one of our players used the strumpet miniature as a monk. Prior to Bones III there weren't a lot of great female monk options and I jokingly put it down as an option (as she's unarmed, and beckoning her foes to her) and the player went for it.

Let me say, again, I'm quite pleased to see townsfolk and hard plastic weapons...

That means increasing and expanding the *variety* of offerings, not simply the *quantity*. That means as things progress, more and more niches are found, and exploited.

The odd thing is that miniature companies haven't made many "bread and butter" miniatures, such as townsfolk, furniture, or even donkeys!

It's one of those weird things where everyone says they want them, but when they get made, they don't always fly off the shelves.

So if folks want lots of Townsfolk, buy em by the truckload.

Just a hint, but if I were looking to expand the available Townsfolk, I would very much keep in mind how well certain, ahem, hard plastic pieces might be modded on to them... just sayin', y'know?

Toasty  - yeah, but my point was how the artwork shows them much larger (the modern depictions in the books, etc).

There are several homemade ones similar to the cardboard/plyboard ones people have made that break into components for transport.

Either way, it's awesome. Not a big fan of the FW one myself :(
