Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Managed to go over 24 hours without unlocking a single stretch goal. That gives me a sad.

Ditto. I'm not even checking the KS page anymore. Reaper knows what they are doing, so they'll run it successfully to whatever end they want but I'm not going to keep checking obsessively.

Looking over my Bones II core set graphic, I noticed that the sections that were unlocked were larger. Heroes I in the last was 6 figures, versus the 4 this time. Beast mode had 5 figures, compared to the 3 lycanthropes we're getting in each unlock here. I suspect part of it is new sculpts vs existing sculpts, along with size or scale of the figures, but I think that may be part of why I feel like there isn't quite as much in each stretch goal as I was expecting.

You'll see more stretch goals and add-ons very soon. They are getting towards the middle of the kickstarter and Bryan has stated numerous times that they'll put in more goals that are closer together which will inflate the core set and give more for people to add-on.

Have no worries, it will work out just fine. Keep your head up.

My guesses are Graveyard Golem or the big Patchwork Golem.

Hints for a Mini Bryan Requested to be Made:
  • Environment of origin not relevant
  • No Wings
  • Roughly the size of an Ogre
  • Upper right corner of next reveal
  • Iteration of a MM (1, 2, 3, etc)
  • Bryan begged for it to be made
  • In a reward with multiple models
  • Not possible in metal - Only Bones due to shape
  • Bryan shall crow when it is revealed.

AWESOME.

I really hope these arsenal packs continue.  I could really use a crapton of large monster weapons like clubs and axes for doing weapon swaps on the hoards of mooks that have the same weapons, like the lizardmen.

Also, totally in for the expansion this time around. The wait for retail for some of the things from last kickstarter has been painful.

      Goblins!
So awhile back I was horrified to discover that some old un-finished minis had sprouted a strange orange mold. I gave them a deep clean and seemed to have solved the issue (spoiler: I did not and it's affecting nearly all my minis... but that's a problem for another time).

As a reward for enduring the cleaning, these goblins deserved to finally get painted.

      Goblin Command (77349)
First up are these two baddies from one of the Bones 2 expansion sets.

These guys, being earlier bones, are a bit on the rough side, and definitely out-of-scale with the others. But that does help them stand out a bit.

      Goblin Warriors (77444)
Next up, we have our "heavy hitters" from Bones 3.

I like these sculpts a lot better. There's a uniformity in the face structure, while still having individuality between models.

      Goblin Skirmishers (77445)
The final batch of wimpier goblins from Bones 3.

These guys are the mookiest of mooks. Poorly armed, and poorly armored. These are the guys that get sent in first to soak up some arrows.

It's nice to finally have some painted goblins. Though my bag full of 50+ more unpainted goblins still taunts me.  I have plans to paint them in a few different shades from the yellow-green used here, to a fleshy yellow-tan, to a pale fleshy-grey.  Hopefully that'll break up the duplicates and add some variety.  But that's a future project.

After painting all these guys up I am tempted to finish the set with the Goblin Honor Guard.  They're the only ones I don't have. I can't see myself getting much use out of them, as they're a bit more situational or decorative than practical. But my completionist brain says I need them.

Reaper has so many incredible and different goblin sculpts.  Which ones are your favorites?

And a third NPC - his day job is boatswain, so I wanted the armor to not be full plate.... he's currently helping the party do a fetch quest for the captain. I'm pretty satisfied with what I got out for what I put in - but I do notice I seem to have forgotten his eyebrows!

      From Bones 3: Gug

"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."
