I'm betting the mystery sculpt is a wyvern.  It's a classic fantasy beast that fits most, if not all of the hints.  Its affinity with insects would be its stinger.

My guess is wishful thinking.  I need so many wyverns for Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and they're so expensive in metal!

Wyvern was going to be my guess but everything I read showed meat eaters.  I so nothing that would put them in the omni world. Oh and this little thing kinda threw it out of the running for me. "Size/Type:     Large Dragon".

So, by my calculations, I have selected $47 worth of options from the core set, without purchasing the whole thing.

That's far enough along that I am starting to wonder where I should place the tipping point between "a la carte" options, and just buying the set. It's a no brainer at $100 worth, and probably still at $90, but what about $70? Do I want the rest of the set badly enough to pay $30 for it? what about $40?

Decisions, decisions...

And I would think the decision will get more difficult as we move forward!

How much effort would it be to sell those $30 of minis on eBay? How much would you get for them? Would you make a donation to a local children's group looking for monsters to paint?

Okay, I've been searching, but the search function at least doesn't turn up anything useful. Just a bit of word of mouth regarding the original campaign that was quite a different animal in this regard. Therefore:

Did I miss it, or has the question of whether ROW "actual shipping costs" are actual actual ("this is what USPS charges") or subsidized actual costs ever been conclusively answered, by someone from Reaper, someplace that's so public there's an actual link to it?

If yes, does anyone have the link?

If no, can we expect an answer?

The first several are from ReaperMatt:

@Reaper speaking with ROW backers last night they questioned Bones 2 having shipping cost added to value and that it placed a big chunk on them from additional customs fees. Is it possible for shipping to not be added in such-and-such way this time.

Second thing ROW backers pay actual shipping while US backers get free. Is it possible to give ROW backers a discount on the core set equivalent to roughly what US backers shipping would be?

@nate - we appreciate the feedback. That additional labour and tracking for international parcels is a significant part of why we do not offer them a discount. US backers do not require any special paperwork, handling, or tracking. There are also practical concerns behind why separate levels do not exist for non-US backers, which would be the only way to "discount the core" from $100 to $93.

Ultimately, we label the parcels in the manner consistent with the law, which mans a value of the items, and a value of shipping paid, and a total combining the two. Some countries use the item value only, some require by law the shipping paid, and some use the combined total. We cannot help that or mark the parcels in any different way.

I know these aren't the answers you hoped for, but I do hope it helps somewhat.

Back soon with more!

Huzzah!

--OneBoot :D

We know because that's what Reaper has posed on the KS

"Free Shipping for US Customers"

"International Customers will pay actual shipping costs"

it's fair enough considering that international shipping involved a lot more admin and paperwork than domestic shipping and Reaper isn't charging for that (based on last time, actual cost was just what they'd been charged by their shipper), the extra staff time probably costs about what their US shipper charges for a flat rate box at discounted rates

but the way it's worded does give a 2nd class customer vibe

not one penny of a ROW pledge subsidizes a US order. The US orders pay for it themselves. it's just bundled into the cost because it really is that cheap to ship within the US and it really is that expensive to ship outside the US. the average ROW order's potage cost $64 last time around, the average US order was $7.

[MOD]

Arguing over shipping at this point is a moot issue.

Shipping costs are what they are and for some people that is potentially a deal breaker.  Reaper has said repeatedly, please be responsible and make your own financial decisions based on what is best for you.  If that means potentially backing less, that is unfortunate, but understandable.

If Bryan said he would bring the stretch goal for shipping subsidy to the table he will, and until we hear back from them, debating the issue is futile at the moment.  All of it is ultimately Reaper's decision, and they will do what is best for them as a company.

Until then.

Please table the shipping argument.  It solves nothing.

I would love a wyvern new sculpt from Julie Guthrie.

I would love a sculpture of an old boot from Julie Guthrie.

If Julie Guthrie resculpted the Monopoly pieces I would cherish them forever.

That she sculpts awesome things is just more goodness on top of her overall skills and talent.

She could sculpt just about anything and I think I would like it.

QFT.

Yo, everyone guessing at the JG sculpt: Imma let you finish, but Julie Guthrie has sculpted some of the best miniatures of all time...OF ALL TIME!

It doesn't even matter what it is.  I will be SO EXCITED!!!

Alright Enough.

I'm too busy with KS stuff to do it but Shipping discussion will be pruned now and in the future by another moderator.

We have made our position clear, and we NEVER asked anybody else to agree with our decisions or think that they were the best, but merely to accept that these are the terms we offer, and they have the freedom to choose yea or nay.

Moderators, please begin pruning this thread of the Shipping conversation.

So, when will we see the second and third parts of the first Expansion?  Hopefully soon.  I want to cackle over that for another day or so before we start bugging you for an early Tianot. :D
