Someone else I think mentioned it upthread, but my guess is a Dire Bat.

 

They love insects, but also eat fruit, and drink blood.  They have both leathery wings and fur.  It's a large animal.  I am pretty sure I remember hearing about one back in the earlier KSers.

I kinda hope not, I have too many halloween bats in large size as it is.

 

Seriously, I am never passing up any new KS paints ever again. Never mind that I wanted only 2 of 12 from that second HD set in Bones II. The wait for them to come to retail has been... longer than anticipated.

Yeah, the delay to retail for the benefit of Distributors has put a new angle on things.

Yes.  Bryan was tired at the last update, and forgot to announce the 1.19 surprise stretch goal.  So instead we just got it "unannounced" (other than in the comments).

Note that I don't mind either way, but I'm curious to know if these are the exact same as in Bones 2.

Uhh...both!  From the pics these are the same as in Bones 2, which either have a raised edge or not, depending on how you flip 'em.

No, I meant when did they announce that $1.19M was a target? From the updates, I recalled $1.16M and $1.22M, but nothing in between.

 

First thing I knew, you were speculating on what the reward would be, and we were already at $1.188M.

klarg1: Much too early to say ... just wait and maybe the set will suddenly be worth the $90 to you (do you like those Pathfinder Iconics, for example).

Do you plan on selling the miniatures you don't want on ebay? Is there a market?

 

It's very unlikely that I would sell any of it. I tend to give away spare Bones models that I don't want for whatever reason. Extreme cheapness makes this a lot of fun, and it's a good way to hook the newbies at conventions, paint days, or local Pathfinder games.

 

I meant my post to cover my own decision making. There are sculpts in the base 30 that I really like, but they are not enough "must have" for me to order the core up front, so I am cherry picking the expansion bits I do really, really want. I can always get the other things through retail 1-2 years from now.

 

On the other hand, if I find $90 worth of cherry-picked core expansion pieces that I really want, then I can tack on the whole rest of the core for (effectively) $10, which is too stupidly good a deal to pass up. I was just musing on how low that threshold should be to make me, personally, spend.

 

 

OK, now that things are settled down a bit, I have a question out of curiosity (that I think may have gotten skipped over):

 

Are you guys still attempting to use Kickstarter monies to purchase machines for Bones production in the USA?

We have been bringing over more and more molds, but a full transition to US production is not going to be possible for a few years.

Have you placed some of the original test Bones into US production? I though I remembered that a few molds had moved in-house besides the bases, but I wasn't quite sure.

Oh, Bryan was teasing in the comments. Sorry, I should provided a link... although he did say something about secrets? I dunno, I missed that part.

 

Also, I seem to have a set of stitch golems (the two smaller ones) in metal... musta snagged them when I did my two pack elfs, gnomes bee cavalry, Christmas Eve and Knight, etc.

I remember in the tour it was said that you needed a larger machine for the big figures. Would the machine you have now do all the medium sized ones or do you need two of Thomas?

IIRC, it was said that KS 1 took 14 machines a month to produce, KS 2 was pretty close to that, also IIRC (a reaper person, LK, or a mod may correct this if I am remembering wrong).  for day to day production Thomas may work for the medium figs, but they need a bunch of them for any Kickstarters

Yay bases !  

 

The large (2") are my very favorite, and the ones I m most likely to run out of after the bones 2 bonanza

I have used 5 of then so far, 

4x 1" bases 

and my first 3" base mini is under way. 

 

They have even been on my eagerly awaited reveals list for this KS .

I like the reaper bases.  Whenever I use various stand-ins (poker chips, etc), I find myself spending more time working to hide what they were than the cost of these KS bases as I value my time.
