Hey now, how do you know it's an evil brain in a jar?

If I do get the Expansion, I plan on making the brain a permanent NPC. A brain that big potentially has a lot of knowledge. So it could be my magic item vendor :D

to me the brain in a jar doesn't feel like D&D.  comics or scifi sure.

@Reaper: When you reveal the free SG's, could you post their "Extra Copy" cost? That should get more money pledged by $1 pledgers (especially ROW) who only want certain miniatures, and $100 pledgers who want extras (eg. bases). Thanks!

Probably a reference to Lovecraft's Mi-Go. Reaper had a few Cthulhu mythos miniatures in their previous KS.

RE: Brain-in-a-Jar---Not pathfinder at all. There was a BBEG introduced in a 2nd ed Ravenloft product that was a Brain-in-a-Jar. I don't remember the title right now, but I've got it stashed away in a closet somewhere.

 

Who says its the lich's heart that sustains his unnatural existence? He was the one who put that "knowledge" into circulation centuries ago...

So I have a question for all you mini lovers:

 

I own no minis, having only gotten into DnD a few months ago. This will be my first set of minis, and as such I am more interested in the minis that provide a better 'use per dollar' than the more niche ones. So I much prefer, say, a set of lizardmen to a Behir. I would simply use the former far more often than the latter. (Without trying to be rude, I need to say that I do not need advice on where to start my collection, what to buy, etc. I have goals in mind, and Bones III is one of them.)

 

With that said, my question is: How much use do you feel you will get out of the Stoneskull expansion? (And, if I may ask; how many minis do you already own and what game(s) do you use them for?)

 

(This post is not to start a discussion on whether you or I or the pope uses their minis 'appropriately' and if we have correct definitions of 'appropriately' or 'use per dollar'. That mileage varies per person. Please do not devolve this into a "the way you do things is wrong" thread.)

I'd say that it's gonna be great. Especially if you're picking up two of the core, I'd say grab this... Some enemies, like the bear and the stitch and stick golems and the gremlins and minotaur, will be handy all the time, some like the BiaJ and the Behir (despite my OVERWHELMING FONDNESS) will be used only once or twice, but will make a HUGE impact on your players. The others, like the succubus and Weremadillo, will be only as useful as you make them - but the succubus is a good general demon (or Demon General!) and the Weremadillo could just as easily be painted greens and greys as a swamp beast or given tusks and be used as an umber hulk.

Expansion 1 got even more incredible.  And we have another reveal left for it yet!

 

The cannon add on looks great.  I think that will get added by many people.  But I'm just a fantasy player, so I'll probably pass on that one.

AHHHHHH

 

One of my most strongly desired miniatures for this set is wrapped up in the expansion.

I was really hoping the Temple dragon was going to be a 10$ add on. 

- it looked smaller than many of the dragons, just perfect for throwing at PCs. 

and such a great dynamic pose!  

 

Oh well at least I get some cool looking plant things with it. 

and the behir, still don't think ill use it but the scales are pretty. 

 

for now ill drop off some of my add-ons. (just not the giants)
