Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Recommended Posts

I know it's way early but I predict that expansion 3 will be an undead themed expansion. :zombie:

Maybe I'm just hoping.

I'm guessing it will be sci-fi in nature.

Good call. That would give backers more variety but might not pull in the kinds of numbers that another fantasy expansion would. Were there some sci-fi minis previewed at the con? I tend not to notice them. I'm guessing undead because of some of the pieces shown off during ReaperCon and the Mausoleum that was talked about in the podcast. It may not be a undead expansion, but they have a great setup for a "Nightmare" style one with that cool golem and the scenery. They might just be add-ons though.

I'm sure it's already been discussed, but for the newbie like me who blew this month's gaming budget on some minis and a pledge (plus a little more), how long can I add money after the Kickstarter is over? Because yeah. This is fun. :)

Pledge now, help the balance grow so we ALL get moar minis!!!

I got cut off. ::(:  But maybe I can convince Mr. Geek Guy here at home to join me in the painting...then he will see... MOAR MINIS! (Okay, so he's already spoiling me, but can one every have too many miniatures?? ^_^ )

Has it been stated officially that the items from the expansions will not be made available individual (at higher prices)? I would love some extra bandits/gremlins along with my Stoneskull set, and so far am only interested in the cultists from Mythos. I know that eventually they will be available retail, but that's so far away!

OFFICIAL ANSWER:

components of expansion sets will be not available separately.

they are an all or nothing option.

at least until they hit retail post fulfillment.

You never have more than 20. Goblin math specifically sets a limit of 20.

I would almost certainly go in for an undead expansion. Sci-Fi, not so much. And as much as I love the cultists, I'm pretty sure I'm out of the Mythos expansion; the rest of it just isn't that interesting to me.

If you get this one right, you're gonna have to hook me up with some lottery numbers!

I'm in for the Ogre Command. At some point I am going to hit my pledge max. No doubt. But I am so glad I can continue to add after the KS is over.

Ooo. Thanks! That means it will be easy to say (with both Christmas and birthday on the way):

Dear people who love me, don't you think I need more tentacles in my life?

If they love you, they will make sure you get more tentacles.

I'm not a big Lovecraft fan but I like the monsters. Can always use horribly tentacled aberrations in D&D. And love the cultists. Always need more cultists.

I posted this in the tomfoolery thread, but I suppose it would be helpful here. My list of ReaperCon previews that haven't been added to the KS:

Huge purple worm

IMEF Bulldog armour

Female frost giant

Large grub

Horned turtle

Another bear

All Bonesylvanians

Gothic archway

Cemetery golem

Coral golem

Farmers with cart

Orba Sinhan

Iron cobra

Dragonette

Chaos warrior

Tianot

Of course, none of these are guaranteed to be in the KS at all. Everything in that cabinet was a potential Bones 3 mini.

On reflection, I think the Gothic archway could have been the entrance to the mausoleum.

Not much chance of that, but it's a good thing. Reaper probably has something very clever, and twice as awesome, up their sleeves.

I have to say, the Mythos expansion is WAY cooler than I thought. I've never used a Lovecraft theme in Pathfinder but having a large set of minis to flesh out a game has won me over. Between this set and some choice stuff from Bones I & II, GMs have plenty of nasty buggers for a horror campaign. It's not my usual thing but that's what's so great about the Bones line getting bigger and bigger. Lots of options to make something interesting happen.

An undead expansion would be lame. I have tons of unpainted undead from KS 1 and KS 2 and don't need any more......juuuuuuuuusssttt kidding. There can never be enough undeath!!!!!!!!!!!!

      From Bones 3: Gug

"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."

      From Bones 3, the Werearmadillo

Obviously, lycanthropy has spread too far...and this is a reminder that Reaper are from Texas, where armadillos are native and as I understand it, seen as pests. I would really like to know how the sales figures for this model compares to other lycanthropes.

I have a series of vignette's I'm planning that all feature ogres in amusing scenes with townsfolk. The first of this series is here.
With this one I imagined the young milk maid is taking her boyfriend home to meet the parents for the first time. The boyfriend, wanting to put on a good first impression has worn his best striped collar and matching belt, as well as brought his best skulls.
He's a bit nervous so she's trying to reassure him. "Don't worry... Mom is going to love you."
She doesn't say anything about dad, though...
Any critique and criticism is always welcome.
