Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Recommended Posts

I had a lot of fun painting my space mouslings, now I can have more! http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/55334-spaceship-superstar-squad-entries/?p=926877

I prefer the retro space mouslings myself over the space marines versions.

I like the Marines, I wish the retro ones were there too though. Those Ray guns were the best part.

Any chance of getting the female frost giant or missing air elemental before things wrap up?

Those two and the female oni are the only things I'm still waiting for.

I wonder about the clear material though. Couldn't in theory any mold be filled with a clear plastic? Aren't they the same as any other molds? Couldn't Reaper in theory do a clear dragon upon request, assuming they have the mold in-house?

I think the machine has to be set up with a certain amount of plastic to inject requiring at least modest size runs of what is being made.

Plus I guess, now that I start really thinking about it, another disadvantage is you can't just melt an unused bonesium miniature down and throw it back in the pot.

Bryan said, IIRC, that 10,000 pieces is the minimum order.

10k pieces?  Is that of the same figure?!?  I'd hope not!

Yes, it is. It's why the KS format is so beneficial to Bones.

Note that there are multiple figures within a single mold. So an order of 10K can be 60K parts of six different pieces.

>Adds his voice to the clamor for the Female Frost giant<

I love the evil/undead weapons, the Tide Titans and Space Marine-lings I'm currently undecided on.

I actually like what someone posted in the chat about the weapons.  Weapons are dropped in half the games I play.  I always see dice represent the dropped weapon.  It is a great idea to use the weapon prop as dropped weapons.

I have heard that the big dragons sell well at conventions. I wouldn't be surprised if they did get 10k of Ma'al, actually.

Although where they would store him...

      Greetings!

I recently bought some Greenstuffworld colourshift paints & eagerly wanting to try them out, I searched through my (huge) Bones backlog for a suitably metallic mini. I grabbed the fantastically ominious Iron Golem from the Bones 4 Stoneskull Expansion & got to work.

The blue areas are the colourshift paint, all the other areas are standard paints.

I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's not as easy to see the effect on these pics as it is with your own eyes but you can make it out. There's no shading or highlighting on these areas apart from some silver to pick out the rivets & sharp edges on the arm plates.

Thief : Blue Ink base + black ink to show details  (least happy)
Cleric : angelic ghost or spiritual weapon spell.  Yellow ink + TMM
Ranger: painted by minispawn.  ill take it. Makes a great ghost
Wizard: nulin Oil + higlights of green ink  (fav)
Fighter: I only painted the base. (represents an invisible PC pretty well.)

I should talk to @Doug Sundseth about this again, since he is teaching a class on it, probably today.  Not sure im happy with the set.

      Per Izzy,
If you picked up either of the Art Books in the Bones III and IV kick-starters and would like to get them autographed, be sure to bring them with you to ReaperCon. Izzy will be signing them when time allows.
