Bones Kickstarter #3 Discussion

Personally, I could do without the wall-of-text lists in the KS comments.  It's hard enough keeping up with comments on the phone, but scrolling past those (especially with links) is annoying and prone to accidental link-clicking (the curse of touchscreen devices)...  

I'm so annoyed with the KS commenting system I finally opened up a support ticket with KS that said:

This is general feed back - no response needed. It's just it was the only way I could find to submit this:

 

The commenting system for projects is horrible, particularly on busy projects. Can you guys please improve it to be more like a forum, or even Facebook's commenting system where people can reply to individual comments? Or at least give project creators the option to link project comments to their own forums and subforums.

I feel like it'd be the Purple Worm. It's been mentioned several times by him as being awesome and all (and it is) and so I feel like it'd be a good thing to expect, personally.

I hope we get the giant maggot with it.

 

 

Any chance of a Shield Arsenal? People loved the weapons, and the buckler is ok, but more complex/interesting shields would be a great addition!

 

@Rocco LiBrandi - It's certainly possible. Other variations of Arsenals with more "magical" and less mundane weapons, new varieties of gear for modifying and customizing. If it's very well received we could easily add additional rewards that are variations upon that theme

 

  ZOMG.  I just had a thought - transparent weapon sprues.  You could get some amazing weapon effects going on with that...

 

Mundane weapons and shields are not even hard to make, especially in jewelry findings and such. Now things like embossed shields and weapons with baroque filigree or runic inscriptions, that would be useful in a weapons pack.

 

If you don't want to wait, transparent swords are readily available from cocktail toothpicks from party stores and liquor isles, though other transparent weapons would be very useful in Bones!

The hour that just ended was the first hour during the entire Kickstarter that earned less than $1k. It is also the highest average pledge (at $110.94) yet. It is also the middle of the night and I should be sleeping. Still on track for a mid-morning $1m (math says 6:00am ReaperTime, but I imagine it will be a couple hours later). Any hints as to how long until we see one of those new sculpts?

there are several new sculpts that were not at ReaperCon coming up.

If you guys like cute stuff, or if you have loved ones that do, then we do have some cute stuff coming up. Hopefully.

Mattnuke - we'd like to see some new sculpts in LE. We're certainly going to try. :)

I do like the Gene lizardmen, but I don'T think I'll ever paint all 24.

@Ron: Are any of them planned for LE this fall?

 

DSMiles - They're perfect candidates for LE. I'd hope to see one or two. :)

Yeah, I know the sprites match up with at least some of the entries. I was just curious if (for example) one of the unlocks near the fountain (on Map 2) might be water-based, or the like.

 

Magnus - yes, sometimes. But not always. :) We like our red herrings.

Gene, you have 14 days to finish. AFTER you finish the thing that you're working on now. That BIG thing...

@Ron - Do you know if we will be getting Talin's Female Oni as either a metal or Bones figure? A lot of us have been clamoring for it since Bones II. I can't wait to buy one!

 

Coraline - I can't get a sculptor to sculpt it. They've all turned it down.

You all know I'm kidding, right??? That's AWESOME!!!

So now we know that Ron has seen and is aware of our desire for Talin's Oni. Hope lives on!

 

I hadn't really noticed any correlation, but have any of the reveals thus far been hinted at by the map background?

 

Magnus - yes, as much as we could tie them together. For example, Lycanthropes II has a gorilla sprite. And there's the apeman in Lycanthropes II. I know the timing didn't exactly work out on this specific example, but there's the tangential tie in.

Bryan's TRYING to provide hints, but our sprite package was sort of limited. We're doing our best to throw out hints when we can. :)

This comment went with it: "Hi Folks, I’m very excited to announce Jake and I have been invited to create a special project which will be a part of the current Reaper Bones III Kickstarter. This will be a special 'guest spot' for a Victoria Miniatures piece, and will appear approximately half way through the campaign. This piece is being specifically designed with Bones in mind, it will be cast in grey PVC, not the usual Bones white. 

I assure you I have no intention (or the cash) at this point, to retool the entire range in PVC. This project is currently a one off, that will give me the experience of working on project for metal tooling, and will expose Vic Minis to a whole new audience. It will be a good learning exercise, and I look forward to hearing customer feedback. It gives Jake and I the chance to make a big plastic kit without the usual risk and expense. Best of all Bones will enable us to offer if for an insanely cheap price if purchased as part of the KS. It will also be available after the KS from Vic Minis, and we have lots of resin add ons already in the works. 

It’s still a work in progress so I'll be posting some more pics in the next few days.

Ok, so I realize that the piucture is sci-fi/steampunk or whatever (I.E. not fantasy), but I'm kinda surprised no one has commented on this. Victoria Lamb does some awesome stuff!! I'm looking forward to seeing what she comes up with.

 

 

ETA--Glad to see we got ogres overnight, and the weapon sprue is a nice surprise!

 

 

 

From the looks of it and the angle of this thing....My guess is a big howitzer...maybe railroad driven?
