Chronoscope Warlord datacards?

Recommended Posts

So I picked up some Reaper Minis at my FLGS and rather liked the look of the ones in the Warlord section of the rack. Doing some research, it looks like a fairly fast-playing alternative to 40k. But I'm more of a sci-fi guy. Is there a science fiction flavor of the Warlord rules aside of CAV (which looks to be big epic-scale mech battles)? Barring that, are there Warlord stats for any of the Chronoscope minis? Or a generator to make one's own?

Unfortunately, no.  Warlord is fantasy based, and more melee focused.

There were some R.A.G.E. rules developed for Reich of the Dead, and a Cowboy game, that more heavily favored ranged combat, which might be better suited for SF.

That being said, you can simply take the Warlord data cards, and try to find ones that fit what you want to do.  Reaper Games has a very flexible data card search engine.

The RAGE system is very flexible for adapting to new settings.   The only issue is point values but if wanted to come up with your own Chronoscope based game but everything other than point values would be easy to come up with.  You may want to come up with some new special abilities to represent new figure powers.   I'd probably make up my own stats then guess what existing Warlord figures are closest to the fig in power/ability and use that point value.

Which of the rulesets would make the best starting point? Cav seems to be all about massive 6mm scale vehicular battle (and makes me a bit sad that I ditched all my epic 40k stuff awhile ago) while Warlord itself is fantasy-based. The cowboys sets seems to be limited to a single page. Thoughts?

Minus the electronics components, CAV might transfer decently to 28 mm skirmish scale. The hard/soft target distinction would be useful, I think, and the various weapon special abilities could be repurposed fairly successfully. Also, and maybe most importantly, there's no public card builder for Warlord, whereas CAV:SO has construction rules and I've recreated the CAV 2 formulas.

For whats it worth, we are working on a port over of the cav:so rules for use with 28-32 mm figs. I hope to have a beta up by the end of the year.

Sweet! I'd love to see it, as my only real alternative at the moment is savage showdown.

I don't suppose anything ever came of this, did it? Always searching for miniature rule alternatives.
