interesting....  who did that painting? its pretty cool :)  I'm following this thread for ideas and strategy for painting a multi coloured model.

when my tiamat finally arrives (hopefully in the next couple weeks), my first step will be to resculpt the red dragon head (want to base it on this design: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/d/d9/Klauth.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20070211202752  )  Then design a base ... (will take forever!)

Lochar   - is this for display or gaming?

Sirithiliel - The comment "now that base coat is done..."  that was epic :)

Regards,

Sanjay

A bit of both.  It'll primarily be a display piece, but I have no compunctions using it against uppity players.

The painting is by Ed Beard Jr. and is an artist print.

@wargamer: If I remember correctly, that Tiamat was done for Wizards, which would probably be why it looks pretty similar.  ^_^

Ah ok.  I guess from the cartoon?  in actual D&D history/lore, i believe the colours are supposed to blend on the back and into the tail.

would have to check...

either way your work looks so nice :)

I asked for her to use this as a guide:

i couldn't tell much from that what was refelctions from the sky on her scales, and what was actually her scale color, so i kept with the red rather than the rainbow of colors on her wings and tail

I'll get a better picture for you this evening then.  There is a bit more color in the wings and such.

I can add more color to the wing ribs if you like, though I don't think her back spine would look good multi-colored since it's spikes and not a continuous membrane
