2 More Demons, Marbrezuk & Thornwart

Recommended Posts

Hello again!

Since I finished the first 2 demons, 2 more have been started.

This is another foray into the use of my airbrush, so anything done that way will be specified.

Marbrezuk 02656 (Glabrezu):

post-14271-0-19969500-1437356210_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-19311500-1437356228_thumb.jpg

The grey is Tamiya Medium Grey, the green Tamiya Flat Green.

I was amazed at the way I was able to get the 2 colors next to each other with almost no bleed over...

Thornwart 02644 (Nalfeshnee):

post-14271-0-52254100-1437356464_thumb.jpg post-14271-0-70286400-1437356477_thumb.jpg

It is done with Tamiya Red Brown, the same base color that I did Karoak with, but I plan on going in a different direction with the high lighting...

One thing I noticed while doing these 2, its that it seems that you can do shading variations with the airbrush by using more or less paint to cover a certain area. You can see some of this looking at Thornwart's chest area. I have some wolves coming from TX, so I plan on looking into this then.

These are some of my 1st excursions into painting RPG minis with an airbrush, so if I sound a little awkward about it, it is because I AM!

Comments welcome!

If your airbrush has a dual trigger - i.e., you can control both the amount of paint and amount of pressure through the trigger - with practice you'll be able to do some pretty intense stuff with it.

My airbrush is a Grex Genesis XS dual action side feed with a .3mm nozzle. Originally bought to paint 3 color camo on 15mm FOW WWII German Tanks.

Have seen a few pics of what people have done with their airbrushes, and I am no where near that kind of thing. Gotta start somewhere!

(I spray at about 10 psi)

At my last job, one of the guys bought a decent Paasche airbrush to paint an RC boat he'd built some years back, and since had no further use for it he gave it to me. I've yet to bust it out and start practicing, though.

Hey All some quick pics of Marbezuk, put some Tamiya Dark Green on top, some Tamiya Flat Yellow on the botton, and some GW Hawk Turqoise on the claws... And some Vallejo Black Brown on his back.

All with my airbrush....

Which due to noise, got put away....

Hope you can see them.

Hey All!

Did some more airbrushing on these 2, so I shot some quick pics

Mainly trying to use the technique from the DKS tutorial, that I used on the Warg and Dire Wolves.

All paints used are Tamiya

Found a mold line running down the right side of his snout.... Filed it and repainted his head. Added some darker greys and lighter greys per tutorial. Also noticed his feet are scaly and not furry, so they got done with Flat Green.

Thornwart:

Again working per the tutorial, added some Flat Brown, some Red Brown mixed with Dark Yellow, and finally straight Dark Yellow.

Wondering what color to do his wings....

Any thoughts?

Going to start washing them, again per tutorial, as the next step.

C&C Welcome

George
