Sorry I am conflicted about how conflicted I want my character to be.

I was considering an aasimar dedicated to wee ju but forgot that aasmiar in 3.5 come with ECL.  I really liked the concept of the faded halo and a ghost of tattered wings that appear behind him in the moonlight.  Trying to get somewhere with a want to do good but a desire to play with the undead.

Some others didn't pan out well either.  Have character, need race. working towards the story below:

I follow my mistress' command.  the path behind me walks in order but is bathed in the dark cloak of death.  through the battlefields I wander healing those who's time is not come and sending on those who have reached the end of their coil.  Fear of the unknown causes them to shy from my presence, leaving me only the silent moaning of those who cannot move.  the dead are friendly though, the shadows brush against me as they leave life trying to express last minute secrets.  Sometimes I like to talk, other times I must use my will to force them away.  At the library we have skeletons to do our bidding.  Though mindless they make excellent servants and can be called at will...

The realm of death is like a flower forever opening but there is also glory in magic, in the implements of the arcane and the divine.  I revel in my studies, the libraries of the order are like no other.  To be permitted free access to such tomes is a true mark of the divine.  But to wander those literary paths is not without peril, each book or parchment is like a path to another world, a test to all we hold dear.  Unfortunately for me, our mistress likes tests and this book opened a much more physical path than I am used to.  the way is open and my lady bids me go.  I can smell the tincture of death on the air and magic practically fizzes in the air.  I have no choice but to pass through with only what is on my back and hope that all will be well...

Maybe you could use Unearthed Arcana LA buyoff rules? Which would mean, let me think... you already bought off the LA and start at character level 5, being 2.000 XP short of CL 6. I think it's a reasonably good system for dealing with LA +1 races that usually start to feel a bit mediocre at mid-levels.

EDIT IN:

"So, can anyone tell me where exactly I am? And please don't start with the name of the village or county again, that's really not helping one bit, if I do say so myself. I need the major landmass at the very least, preferably the planet. Yes. Pla-net. Two syllables. Like ground-ling. You know, the kind of creature that doesn't even realize it lives on a planet. Oh, come on, surely someone knows what in blazes this ball of rock is actually called? I'd like to have something to actually write in my report. Provided I ever I actually get off this rock again, and actually find someone that would bother with reading a written report. Still, can't hurt to be prepared, so whats this planet... what is your world called, again? And can somebody please point me in the general direction of civilization, which for the record is defined not as 'some backwater in the middle of nowhere', but as a port city with preferably a five digit population or better where there is at least an off-chance I might find someone who doesn't look at me with a blank stare when I try to explain something like this."

Of course, actually getting off whatever this dirtball actually was called would presumably require a bit more funds than His Grace Notal Akhmee, totally rightful Acting Lord Admiral of the Gnomish Space Marines, Planetary Landing Division, had been able to salvage. Adventure might be just the thing to fix that little problem, even though it would have to be mind-numbingly boring groundside adventure, most likely entirely without giant hamsters, smokepowder-loving giff or even just some good, old-fashioned advanced mechanical contraptions. Surely even in what-did-they-say-the-sorry-excuse-for-a-village-was-called-again, every now and then someone would feel the call of adventure strongly enough to appreciate the helpful advice of a master sage, morale officer, diplomat and of course commander-in-chief of a - currently admittedly quite short on personnel - fighting force. Time to put on a jovial smile, then, in case the next guy through that inn door is not some backwater sheep-shagger, but someone not so intellectually over-challenged by words with more than two syllables!

Thanks. Let me look those up today. Never really had to use UA before. I'll look at it today. I should have the concept finished today as well.

Also guilty of somehow missing the page where we were level 6... Too much travel.

A cleric with the magic domain can certainly stand being 1 level short of the rest of the party.

I will take the aasimar concept as long as Koi is okay with it.

Drall is a tall person standing ramrod straight, his grey hair gives and haggard face give him more age than he really has.  He wears a bronzed breastplate with an enameled flaming skull under a full black cloak.  On his head is a black wide brimmed hat.  His demeanor is surprisingly pleasant for a priest of Wee-Jas, both scholarly and willing to talk for a while with any one who will stick around, although meeting his eyes is disturbing as they seem to reflect your own soul back at you in their shadowed silver gaze.

The night brings on a new aspect. When cast in moonlight the soft ghost of tattered angels wings float behind him, majestic in their size, betraying his true heritage.  a tarnished silver halo floats softly above his brow.

"I have stepped into a new land for the sake of my mistress, the land is steeped in death and magic.  What mysteries I will find here or what my mistress bids me to seek, I am not sure but sometimes the adventure may be enough!"

I'll leave that decision up to you guys.

IMO, it's your choice, boss. I use them in Big Darn Heroes, but I've played in games without them. They're more a tool for the DM than the players. Some like them, some find them distracting.

If the choice is ours, I'll vote in favor of using them. As a DM, I find the distinction useful for quickly scanning a post and picking out actions and conversations. (Or, things I need to adjudicate vs. things I don't.)

As a lot of my play is remote and from phones and tablets, colors can be really difficult on the mobile version.  Though I could always play black.

Yes its Wee-Jas.  although my inherent desire to irritate the OCD calls to me to say that this is a isolated parallel world where the God has declared her name to be Wee-Ju... ::):

I second kanga, about the colours, but I'm fine with going with the group. (I think I'm going to need to start following on my desktop as it's getting difficult to keep up with everything)

I've lost track also. How many of us are there?

We have six players, and our status is as follows:

dsmiles: I have a character sheet and you're ready to go.

KangarooRex: I just need you to pick your languages.

Arkady: I need a finalized gear list and languages from you.

Beagle: I still need to roll your character.  I'm planning to have that done in the next day or two.

Number Six: I still need to roll your character.  I'm planning to have that done in the next day or two.

davor: Last I recall, you were looking at crusader for a class.  I need you to either confirm or deny and let me know if you can roll your character or if you'd like me to do it.

I apologize for the delay, guys.  I was hoping to start early this week, but I've been trying to finish my summer classes (preferably before the fall semester starts next Wednesday ).  There has also been a death in my family, and it has somewhat affected my schedule for the last week or so as we have been expecting it.  Thanks for your patience.  I'll be ready to go soon.
