Barrow Rats - Bones & Metal

I first painted up the barrow rat that came in the original Learn To Paint Kit #1, then decided to paint the rest of the Reaper Barrow Rats in the same scheme.

 

First the two metal variants.

 

 

 

Now, the two Bones variants that came with Bones KS2.

 

 

 

The Bones rats are a good bit gnarlier than their metal counterparts.

Yeah, I prefer the bones if having to choose between the two. I like both pairs you did though. The colors look nice and the boils are rather putrid. Great work!.

I'm guessing the bones versions have spent more time in the barrows to accumulate all those boils.

I would agree they are more dynamic and interesting overall. However, the metal sculpts have crisper details, which made painting easier. The boils, while fewer in number, are more exaggerated in the metal variants. There is also clear delineation between skin and fur, with the fur having deeper grooves (easier to pick out strands). Some parts of the Bones minis were pretty hard to differentiate between skin, fur, and boils.
