Bobbys_car_lot
It is now officially March. We haven't seen a single new CAV since Christmas. Does anyone else find this just a bit frustrating ? Is CAV dead? Is there some 'snag in production' I am unaware of? Where are the new mini's? The JOR2 looked promising but we've seen at most a third of of what it promised . Someone please tell me what's going on! Thank you kindly . --Bobby
Morgan Devalis
Have a little patience, I am waiting for the Starhawk MK VI as well, but if there were a major problem, we would have heard of it. I am REALLY curious about the delay as well though.
Chrome
Is CAV dead? Is there some 'snag in production' I am unaware of? No and yes. Look around a little bit before going off. You'll find that the topic has already been discussed in a few different places. Reaper is moving their offices and production facilities. Spartan6
Simmer down now.... No one forgot about CAV. You have my personal gurantee no one wil forget about it..LOL With the move etc. things are kinda in an uproar I'm sure. Have patience and keep the faith and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised pretty soon
Black Lightning 2
Now wait a minute... Don't go blasting the guy for a very valid concern. There has been absolutely NO official communication regarding what happened and when we can even hope to expect a next release. The last release we got was both late and sported a near 25% cost increase. You can say "Reaper Move" all you want. It's done nothing to slow down the releases from Warlord, Dark Haven and the rest... Why is it impacting CAV so much? Bobby, like many of the players that I interact with, are customers. They have made a huge investment into this game in time, emotion and, above all, money. They deserve to know what's going on with their game. They deserve to hear some kind of news... And not this garbage like "When we know, you'll know." Production delays happen. It's just a fact of matters. But, how do you explain the lack of communication? How hard is it to spend a total of five minutes to post up on the website that they're having trouble with the masters, the move and such and such and they're experiencing some uncontrollable delays? Customers don't need to be patient. Bobby has every right in the world to complain about this inexcusable release delay. Yes, you heard me, inexcusable. It's inexcusable because nobody's saying anything about it, nobody's coping to it and nobody's being accountable for it.
KAMUT
Mike, We're cool and everything, but whoa. Do you realize what it takes to get a 3D mastered job on schedule; Warlord and DH, are easy to get going after a move, because they're hand sculpted. Not the case with CAV, because they went to a computer aided set up, and 3D Printers. Thats just the pains of the process, and furthermore I remember the Reaper staff specifically stating they are looking into a new process for 3D printing. Again that takes time. I do remember them saying that. I work with Plotters and printers all the time, and I know for a fact a move is a b*tch. Bro, relax; I rather they take their time get it right, then have to worry about costly mistakes in the future. This is "catch up with painting and modifications" time for me. Black Lightning 2
You're missing my point. I don't necessarily have a problem with delays. As I said, it happens. I do very much so have a problem with communication... Or, in this case, the lack thereof. Post on the website what's going on, what's the problem, and how it's getting fixed and nobody will have room complain. I don't remember anybody saying anything about new processes or the move or whatever. Perhaps this was discussed in a private forum that many of us don't have access to. It's irrelivant. You can't expect the customers to troll through the forums looking for news about their favorite games. That's not the way business should be done. KAMUT
Yeah, OK bro But your missing my point, they did. The new 3d process was something they posted on one of these threads; not sure which, its a good enough answer for me.
Mad Pat
The New CAV's are coming, and I believe I was told that they would be doing more per month until everything was caught up. Your right about communication, but you have to remember one or two small things. 1. The man we expect communication from is currently also addressing a entire product line that is slated for formal release with in months. I know for a fact this takes up quite a bit of his time. 2. Reaper is moving, so some of their time is split away prepping for that, anyone who's ever gone through a office move will know what this is like. 3. In my opinion (BIG RED OPINION LIGHT) CAV has been delayed because of warlord, have you guys seen the system, its great, but it also takes a handful of mini's to field a good army, those have to be designed, sculpted and spun. Then there is all the fluff, rules, stats, packaging, and marketing...guess what, pretty much everything has taken a back seat when the product is supposed to be on the shelves with in the next few months. Relax, take a deep breath, take this time to reflect on the Zen of high capacity rotary gauss weapons...I know I do. Plus hit the store, buy a few existing models and work on your paint jobs, Please for the love of god work on your paint jobs...Mine suck..practice practice practice. Jaelie
If you want information on what's going on at Reaper, check out our Press Releases, where items of interest are covered: Reaper Press Releases Reaper's new facility is mentioned here, with the scheduled move for March 2004, and we're currently on target. CAV has not been forgotten. The next project will be CAV 3rd Printing. We are having some problems with our 3D printer, and once those kinks are worked out, CAV will be in full swing. Thanks! Agreed Well said When I act as a customer for (insert line here) I do not care for excuses, that is the way they look to me, but for product to fill my real or perceived need. Oh and I keep hearing Bobby's concerns from both gamers and RETAILERS... and if you think customers have little patience, try a retailer or two. KAMUT
Jaelie Could you pin this topic, because its gonna come up again. this way at least people have an official answer. And I think AOs in the future should have at least a little discretion to answer these questions in the future. Not everything in the private forums should stay private, especially an issue like this. People outside the program are the majority buying the product, not using points to fill their stock. Sorry if I pissed a few heads off, but thats the truth.
Jaelie
We are having some problems with our 3D printer I also slightly misspoke here, which may have led some to understand that Reaper actually has a 3D printer on site, which is not correct. What I should have said is: We are having some problems at the 3D printer whom we have contracted to print the original plastic/wax model. As soon as the problems are resolved, production of CAV models will resume in full swing. If you want to know about the production process of CAVs, it can be found on our CAVhq site. I don't know how to pin a topic.
KAMUT
Hmm, I'm one of those who thought you guys had a printer on site, OK, I understand and thats good enough for me.
Akela
We will have our own printer at some point in the future. Unfortunately the cost of the technology is still prohibitive at this time (you could buy 4-7 passenger cars for the same amount of money).
