KAMUT
I hear that! but in the long run, it'll probably pay for itself so as long as the product lines that utilize it can support it. You got a winner with CAV, and I can guess Imperator would follow suit, so right off the bat you have 2 lines that would use it. not sure to what extent AICOM would use it, but I can see bits and peices being crafted from it. I can already imagine you guys would be able to handle other licenses too, even if they are just production contracts, and there is no law saying you couldn't handle contracts for practical uses, like industrial fittings, etc, etc. Its a good plan of attack, but the current product lines have to be moving first before a 3d Printer could be supported. I hear ya!
papabees
We will have our own printer at some point in the future. Unfortunately the cost of the technology is still prohibitive at this time (you could buy 4-7 passenger cars for the same amount of money). Holy Crap! It better do alot more than print. Leech
So long as it makes my CAV's in a reasonable time I couldn't care what else it does :o)
General308
The mini delay's don't really bother me. What does bother me is the CAV source books all seem to have vanished. I bet money we will see JoR3 before any of the other source books that were supose to have been done. But I do promise this I will not buy JOR3 if we do not have any of the other source books out for CAV. I realize that Reaper is working on Warlord. But I don't care I am not a fantasy gamer. Sure I will buy some fantasy minis from time to time. But I don't play those type of games like most Sci-Fi gamers. I belive Reaper realizes that most Sci-Fi gamers don't play Fantasy games but it seems we are being left out.
nadinbrzezinski
And this folks is what I have been hearing for literally months... I woudl say at least since June. Add to that the Retailers.. and it is not a pretty picture. Insorar as I am concerned, well I have so many CAVs that still need painting that this is not a priority, aka getting more minis... Black Lightning 2
insorar as I am concerned, well I have so many CAVs that still need painting that this is not a priority, aka getting more minis... Speak for yourself... I have TWO incomplete armies right now. My TundraWolves need Thunderbirds and StarHawk VIs, and my Sabre Kill Team needs Emperors. It's hard to paint these guys when there's these giant holes in their ranks. As far as source books are concerned... Rules Of Engagement. That's the only book that I know that's outstanding. COG's not necessarily a book, but, it would be nice to have a honest to goodness tournament system to promote competitive play.
nadinbrzezinski
Sorry, just thinking of all the metal I still have in ahem METAL... By the way you are right Rules of Engagement is necessary for competitive play... but what do I know? That said, right at the moment paiiotning some Panthers (no, not CAVs, the real deal) soem Tigers, soem Auz and others, and hubby is doing some Shermans, and Halftracks, you get the idea... we are about to do soemthing funny I thought about getting a Russian force, put in the Komisars and go to the local store that promotes GW... Can you see it now? But they stole that from GW? Not quite, GW ahem borrowed the concept from the Red Army... wanna play? I guess two weeks from now I will be donig a CAV thuogh... at the painting sessiion, what to paint, what to paint? That is the question. pae
From the front page of the Reaper website: CAV Update Posted on 03.08.04 Recently we've had some problems with the process for converting a digital file to a silver master for CAV. The problems have been resolved and within a week Reaper should be receiving a new batch of silver masters. Once they arrive, expect CAV releases to return to normal. Yay! We will be releasing more CAVs per month for a short while to get back on schedule. A revised Release Schedule will be available soon. Archaon
Look at it this way; buy more CAV and they get a 3D Printer faster!
ironmani
Is the new release schedule going to keep the smae order of the orginal releases? Or are they going to be rearranged? Thanks!
ladystorm
My guess is there will be some change in the order that things are released. I believe the intention is to release 6 instead of 4 until things are back on track. but as we all know I can be and often am wrong, (my kids love that line...) cher
KAMUT
Nah, Ladystorm. I think your right. Matt, on the issue of 3D printers, I thought about it more and thats waaaaaaay off in the future.... I'm not sure how much production Reaper puts out. OK, I'm looking at it like this, If you guys only have two lines (well actually one being that Imperator and Aicom are really just extensions of CAV), I would rather you put that money on the marketing side of the house, say like a good animated series, even if its one season. That could do more to help CAV than a 3D printer at the moment. You already have a pool of workers to draw from, I think Blitz being one of best, and he's already one of your designers. Who knows, with a little blood sweat and tears. I realize the thought process that went into the design of CAV and you might have something that may be a "fresh look on Mecha in ground combat". I brought up before the idea of the Datacards themselves being like the playing cards people use with games like Magic or LOTR. that is one to consider, heck, I'm sure I could figure an interesting way to play CAV as a card game, luring some of those card players into the minis side of the hobby. At least I can try.
