Lobotomy - (Titanforge)

Some really nice miniature concepts in that core box, which frankly make it all the more baffling that they've gone with a single miniature for the expansion.

I'm tempted just to go for the core set and try to get the expansion cheaper at retail unless there are any significant changes.

(although that Dakka thread makes me cautious)

Agreed, even though it may expand gameplay a bit, $50 for these minis is a bit steep.

Besides, I think the game will be fun enough without. It is not like I have no other board games!

(me too, but I love the theme too much to not take any risk)

It wasn't ideal, but in their (partial) defense the Demigods minis clearly had issues or Prodos would not have had to re-do them when they took over.

That is what I think as well.

Well this KS doesnt have all lights on green for me but there's also some good things.

:B): they have a long history of making and selling minis

:B): their last KS went pretty well, also fulfillment-wise

::(: KS doesn't seem that well prepared: no rules, gameplay vids or reviews, they didn't have a SG ready

::(: complications with KS and large mini orders in the past

We'll see how it goes. As they take a full year to deliver (aug 2016) I guess they have learned form their past mistakes.

And at least the minis and game theme look pretty well. They also listen very well to the backers' wishes.

Just saw this one... Now I'm sad I don't have any funds in my KS budget!

Starred. We'll see if funds magically appear in 20 days.

Sometimes I think I am crazy, spending all that money on games I haven't played yet! ^_^

But the KS is progressing surprisingly well, it may have to dso with the fact that there aren't a lot of miniature tabletop games on KS at this moment. Really a lot of stretch goals are reached, among which a few fun ones, like a crazy lady in a wheelchair, quite a unique mini afaik.

they say

  1. Abour material - We know that board gamers do not like resin like modelers so there are two options. Either it will be a restic - something like Prodos has in their AvP boardgame (it is veeeery flexible) or a plastic. Models from the "core" should be plastic but for add-ons we cannot be sure (if a add-on sells in like 100 copies making injection mold for it is simply economically impossible). Either way it will be highest quality and will work well in board game requirements.

so their own resin for add ons that don't sell huge amounts,

something else for the main (and expansion), maybe restic/pvc, maybe some different sort of resin (that's what the Prodos stuff is, not restic), maybe even sprues

if you want a game with minis... fine

if you want minis to the exclusion of the game (with the higher expectations that comes with that).. maybe? maybe not?

I think not knowing what material you're going to cast your minis in is something of a red flag. How can you calculate realistic costs to cover three different materials, each of which has differing production costs?

because you quote for the worst case scenario, and understand that if cheaper options become available, that's what you're going with?

We do something similar when we price our Bones on kickstarter at MOQ (minimum Order Quantity) and then frequently order 3-6 times that amount, sometimes at discounted rates because of volume.
