2015 Fall Exchange - Chatter Thread

Recommended Posts

I haven't heard anything about my exchange, but that's okay, I'm patient  ^_^

I'm in the same boat.

I just check the mail each day looking forward to a surprise.:)

Sent you a message but I'll say it here too, unexpected RL issues. Working on the last of your exchange now. Sorry sweetie!

Well I hesitate to voice my plans cause that seems to be when all heck breaks loose and nothing I plan gets accomplished. So I'll just say soontm

Yeah I understand the feeling.  Seems every time I've get the grove on mine RL throws something to limit any real progress.  Ah well,  Mine is getting dear completion.

Here are the promised pics of what I was sent. Camera was not co-operating with me very well im afraid though, so a couple are blurry. If you have better pics Tarsemina it would be great to see them. I really like the way the base sets up on this. You did a fantastic job painting him up. Thank you for this.

My package is in its final country destination!  Now of course it will probably sit in customs for a month, but it made it across the sea.

I've been making notes on what I did and how it's being fixed. Because the only difference between science and screwing around is writing it down.

*opens mailbox, finds big box inside, quickly runs inside the house and carefully unpacks it...*

   ::D:  ::o:  :wow:  :bday:

RECEIVED AMAZING DIORAMA FROM TRAXIA!!

Thank you! It's sooooo fun and cool and well worth the wait.  ^_^

A few quick pics at my painting bench, I'll take better if Traxia doesn't have them for a show-off thread.

Entitled "Dice Hate Me"

She wrote about it:

My thoughts and ideas for the diorama - was when I used to play D&D, and either the dice or the GM hated my character... the poor dwarf is just not getting any breaks... his action on the innocent bunny turns it into a wererat, while attacking - his axe breaks, and his elf party mate usually swift with an arrow - manages to tag him twice!

My exchange partner this year was Fealron and one of the ideas suggested was a new enemy or villain to throw against his players.  I had this guy on hand and wondered if a giant werewolf would fit the bill:

      14030: Vasyl, Rageclaw Alpha

While I was painting that I came across these guys and they just begged to be henchmen:

The one in the middle I believe is an old Grenadier, the others are clix.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch I did a little digging and discovered that Fealron has a set of DwarvenForge, so I felt compelled to paint these as a gift.  It's all molded from Hirst Arts molds (except the barrel mimic).  I hope they provide hours of fun play.

My partner this time around was Clearman.  He requested a heroic character painted heroically, and nothing says heroic quite like the word "Hellknight."  Of course, I haven't actually played the adventure(s) that Pathfinder Hellknights appear in so maybe they are cuddly people.  We'll say she just finished up a heroic day of undead slaying.

Metals are TMM, which my camera hates, but I think I managed to get a few decent shots.  For something different I painted the base using pigments rather than hobby paints. I used the wet method of applying them and the color shift is huge, so I wasn't sure how they would come out until they dried.  Of course you can be intentionally sloppy because any pigments on the mini's boots just help "tie the figure to its base." I freehanded some wood grain onto the shaft of the weapon just to add some interest to the boring space.

Any interest in a new round of trading cards?

What is an artist trading card (ATC)?
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards

Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5". Most swaps are open to any media, materials or techniques as long as the card fits into a standard trading card sleeve.

      http://www.tinteddy.com/introduction-to-atcs-what-are-artist-trading-cards/

If I can get 6 or more people I will set up a round of 1-1 trades for forum members. Post here or PM me if you'd like to participate.  I am thinking of an Oct 1 start date and Dec 1 due (in the mail) date.

well, he finally made it out of the house!  My exchange is officially in the mail.

My exchange partner had asked for something futuristic and something either goofy or scary, so of course I went with ludicrous.  What do you give the giant demonic poisonous spider that has it all?  high tech lasers and missile launchers!  I have been building and painting some of my eldar pieces and decided that they could use a mascot.

As for things I haven't done in a while.  I have started to play with decals again as a way of adding some interest to my larger grav tanks and space ships so I thought I would add a few here for fun.

The weapons pack is removable if my partner wants to use him as a basic giant spider (actually I got a few complaints from the arachnid union when we discussed permanent attachment...)  there are to pointy pins that attach the weapons pack to the back of the spider (bones material does have its uses.

So here is the Mark I demonic assault spider.  I hope everyone enjoys him!
