Edsterdoom
Looks like getting it across the pond may happen, not sure what the post would be back from the US to UK (alchemist) But I see no reason why it can't go to a few people whilst it is in the US. Providing it doesn't impact the other boxes of good will. As Choaswolf has helped on this as well as Ub3r we could look at sending it to both as well as Thes Hunter, not sure what the order would be unless you guys want to decide ?
kay13
I was looking into how much it costs to send to the UK.... just in case. Scary stuff! To post a 2kg box (some of the maximum weights are more) ranges between $40 (Sea mail - ie forever) to $130 (for a 10kg box) and anywhere inbetween. Didn't realise postage to Europe was so evil!
Glitterwolf
Well I don't mind sending it to the USA as i mentioned before. A little paypal help is welcome, but i'm perfectly willing to do this on my own should it be necessary. Just provide me with a PM whom to send it too, we'll work things out. If people in the USA send it to each other and then back, then we will all be paying shipping anyway. Just let me know. For me, this is a first. So lets see what happens. If it turns out to be too costly it is a one time thing, if its doable who knows? Maybe do it again.
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted August 30, 2015 Moderator Share Posted August 30, 2015 I also have no problem helping with shipping getting the box to the U.S. And then back again, as long as I have a chance at the box. That's the idea. Anyone who wants to pony up a few dollars to help with shipping would be included in the US leg of the 'world tour'. Looks like getting it across the pond may happen, not sure what the post would be back from the US to UK (alchemist) But I see no reason why it can't go to a few people whilst it is in the US. Well, I figure that if the folks in the UK/EU want to ship it over here, I'll put out the call for US people who want in and then arrange things from there.
redambrosia
Ooo! I'll chip in to send it to the USA! Heck, I'll even chip in to send it to Australia! The International Box of Awesome!
Marsya
I'd be willing to chip in for shipping as well just let me know when and how much.
tiniest rhombus
Also still willing to chip in for postage to the states and back again. CW- Would it be easier for you if those of us willing would edit our sign up post In the original BoG signup thread with a question something like Willing to pool shipping cost for BoG UK/EU box? Then we'd PayPal the funds to Herman for the trip over and the last U.S. Person would get the PayPal funds for the trip back. Or Depending on how many of us wish to help out, we'd probably be able to manage an AUS trip to Kay. We'd also have to be willing to help her get it back since her shipping would be crazy expensive from the sounds of it.

tiniest rhombus
Oh yeah good point. Of course it would. :-)
Beagle
We'd have to limit the number of colonials involved, aside from the obvious problems with their rebellious nature if we have too many then this will just become another US box of goodwill, so the more it moves through North America the less Euro 'stuff' will remain in the box, if you take my point. Yep. I agree. I'd suggest 2-3 people here in the States before sending it back. No more, otherwise you are looking at a lot more time before it gets back across the pond.

Depending on the interest, the rounds could be split up. For example 6 U.S. People would like to join in. 3 this round, 3 the next round. Provide y'all would like to keep it going.
Edsterdoom
Well this almost suggest we have enough interest to do a second round of this. I agree if we limit the U.S. numbers to 3 people we then send it back to alchemist and start the loop again if everyone is happy. So we need to decide who the U.S. participants are. Beagle do you have any suggestions for a criteria?

Just for the sake of discussion, wouldn't that be better, not worse? I know we have that whole world wide web thing, and can theoretically all order the same stuff, but wouldn't this be a chance for everyone involved to get some things that may not be as easily/cheaply available closer to home? Yep. I agree. I'd suggest 2-3 people here in the States before sending it back. No more, otherwise you are looking at a lot more time before it gets back across the pond. Well, we've got 6 people who have replied (myself, Ub3r_n3rd, Thes Hunter, Marsya, Tiniest Rhombus, and Red Ambrosia) as well as MadJack willing to kick in a few bucks to help cover costs without the box even having to go to him. I'm not sure how you'd decide; perhaps the (fill in the blank) number of folks geographically closest to the UK/EU? Or spread it out across the country--1 from the East coast, 1 from the midwest, and 1 from the West coast?
ub3r_n3rd
Random dice rolls! Assign each of us a # on a d6, then take the first 3 rolls (re-rolling for duplicates). Then the next time it goes around, the next 3 get in on it and so on and so forth.
