Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted August 13, 2015 Reaper User Share Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) The Construction Program went to a major update to clean up some code as well as adding data cards for every model currently available in game and a few more to boot (I even put the Scorpion in there for you :). The Force Manager is also now available windows based machines. The FM zip contains the latest CP as well. http://talon-games.com/downloads/CP/CAVFMv1728b.zip Updated 2/25/2019 If you have any questions on its operation (either program), find a bug, find a model we missed, etc. please submit an email to: bugstomper(at)talon-games(dot)com The following file compiles all of the data cards from the CAV CP and puts them in one master PDF file. http://www.talon-games.com/downloads/CP/MASTERJOR.pdf I have also updated the model list. http://talon-games.com/downloads/MODELLIST2275.pdf Edited February 25, 2019 by CAVBOSS

canuckotter
Basic stuff all seems to work so far in CAV:FM. Both programs suffer from a very minor issue: If the user increases the font size on their computer (Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display, choose Medium or Large) the UI doesn't accommodate that. The font gets bigger but the space available doesn't, so some of the text ends up overlapping stuff etc. Not a very common thing at all for people to run into, I just happen to have it set to Medium because I found it worked better for my Surface Pro. Switch it to Smaller and everything's fine. And it's still useable on Medium, just a little weird looking. I'll try to find some more time on the weekend to beat up on it in more detail. Maredudd
I've downloaded the construction program and am still having a problem running it. Note that I am on a Mac and trying to use Wine. So, once the book comes out, if I decide to try to implement a Mac friendly program, will there be any objections to me distributing it? So, once the boys comes out, if I decide to try to implement a Mac friendly program, will there be any objections to me distributing it? CAVBOSS said in another thread it was OK... I've started poking at the idea but haven't had a lot of time for it, and will continue not to have much time for the next little bit, but I'll get back to it before too long. Here's a thread to talk about it: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63513-cav-strike-operations-open-source-tool-discussion-thread/

SCUG
I think we may have identified an issue with CAVFM and older model files from CAVCP. If you are having trouble getting FM to launch, this may be it. To test this, rename the User folder under Models. If the program runs, then that is indeed your issue. Please do not just delete your model files, unless your keen on starting over. We are working on this issue. The programs are supposed to be completely backwards compatible, so we will get to the bottom of it. However, if you can't wait, you can try opening each of your user files in the latest build of CAVCP and save them again. This will update them to the latest file version, and hopefully will address your issue. Thank you kindly, and thank you Brandon for helping us find this problem. OH! If you have this specific issue and renaming the user models folder fixes it, please let us know at bugstomper(at)talon-games(dot)com. Actually, all bug reports should be reported there. You know it really sucks we have to list an e-mail address like because of spam bots... Chris Lewis Edited August 16, 2015 by SCUG

SCUG
No. This is the first time I've tried to run Wine. Have you looked through the FAQ on WineHQ.org? That page was very helpful to me, when it came to figuring things out.
Arc 724
So I don't think I understand the FM that well but I think That is because I am new to the game. Is there any form a instructions on how this works. I add one Attack group and it said conditions are not met. I add a Recon and the "OK" says ERR and will not let me export to PDF? I thought is I need to build a complete force (using all TV) with all group types before it will let me be ok? Really confused...
Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted August 17, 2015 Author Reaper User Share Posted August 17, 2015 Getting the book will help immensely...but till that time there is a read me file in the zip that should explain the basic operating instructions for the program. For errors and such please email the bugstomper(at)talon-games(dot)com
Mastergunz
CAVBOSS, Ive noticed that some of the SA's are in the program and some aernt yet I can't for the life of me figure out what weapon/combination gives them. Lock on for example. I've tried all combination of missile boats but can't figure it out. Is the list complete? Thanks, Todd
Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted August 18, 2015 Author Reaper User Share Posted August 18, 2015 An SA specific to a weapon cant be "equipped" during construction. Only the SAs you can assign show up in the program. After you equip a weapon, look at LOADOUT, the third tab and it will show the weapon system, damage, and SA. SA: Lock-On is a restricted SA and cannot be equipped. We have reserved some for down the road to use for unique designs and such.

I thought is I need to build a complete force (using all TV) with all group types before it will let me be ok? Really confused... There is a document in the programs root folder called CAV FM README.rtf This doc goes through all parts of the program and should help you build a force. It will hopefully help you understand the programs functions, but does not explain any of the games rules. Having the rule book will help you understand how to build a complete force and also help you understand why the program allows some things but not others. FM will only allow you to print or export a legal force. So, any issues with the force not conforming to the rules will result in an error. When you add a force, you are just adding a place to put units. A container, if you will. First you add a Force (force tab), then add units to that force (units tab). Hope that helps.
