Brother Jim
Updated version of FM v0930 is now available. Where? I just went to the http://www.talon-games.com/downloads/index.html website and it still has 167. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. (It's in the first post of this thread).  Edited August 20, 2015 by Brother Jim
SCUG
CAVFM Version 0930 addresses the issue with the loading of certain model files. Turns out it wasn't because of model files of a previous version, it was because CAVFM wasn't handling incomplete models properly. Understand, each model must have an Affiliation. Without it, FM doesn't know how to catalog the model or handle filtering. Almost all the files we've been given to figure out what is wrong was because of this issue. CAVCP allows you to build incomplete models. This was done in case the user can save their progress and finish the model at a later time, without having to start over. Anyway, the program handles these instances properly now. Any incomplete/illegal models will be ignored by CAVFM. If any are omitted during loading, will bring up a prompt that some models didn't load and to check the log file for a list of these models. They'll be found in the root directory of the program. This list will also tell you why the models weren't loaded, so the problems can be addressed. Storm_Bringer
Just noticed the FM addition to the Construction Program. I have to say... I ***LOVE*** the Force Manager. One of the many miniatures games I play is Flames of War. I was a huge fan of EasyArmy (before Battlefront took it over). I would spend hours crafting a force for a Friday night battle. Force Manager feels very much like that. Great job. It really shows off the depth of the game to see all those options like Satchel Charges and Infantry Fighting Positions. If I may make two suggestions... 1) could you add a check box to include footnotes on the SA rules? Maybe when I play more I will memorize them, but for now it's hard to know what "Hard, Assault 2, Reinforced 1, Relentless, etc" mean. 2) could you add a shadow outline (or even a pic) of the model by each card as a visual reminder? This would probably be more of a help to my opponent trying to spot who is the most damaged. I know space is limited... but even a little outline would be useful. Keep up the good work. CarlZog
Got my copy of the rulebook today and finally spun up the FM and CP to see what things look like. Awesome tools!! The combination of these stands to make CAV:SO one of the most flexible and creative minis games on the market. Congrats on great work! I'm probably overlooking something, but is there a way to custom edit the unit selection list in FM to only include the models I own? Also, is there a designated outlet for folks sharing output from the CP? I don't think I'm adept enough at the program or the rules to do it myself yet, but I would love to see data sets for the older models that didn't make it to official SO. Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted August 25, 2015 Author Reaper User Share Posted August 25, 2015 Carl, I included data cards in the CP for older models as well. If I missed one let me know and I will whip it up so you have it with CAV:SO stats. As to the FM ? I will let Chris answer that one.

Badger was the first I noticed missing (since I'm in the middle of painting a couple of 'em!), but looking more closely, I realize it's the units that were previously classed as "gunships" or "dropships" that are all missing, so I'm guessing it was not oversight but a design consideration. This may not be the right thread for this, but can you tell me what the plan (if any) is for these units? Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere, but I couldn't seem to find mention of it in any previous threads. Reaper User CAVBOSS Posted August 25, 2015 Author Reaper User Share Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) The gunships that did not make the switch over to CAV:SO are becoming Dropships. I will stat those up though and include them in an update for those that want to continue to use them as their former incarnations. Maredudd
I haven't gotten the construction program to work yet. Did you by chance built the spider form CAVs with it as well?

dispatchdave
I'd like to suggest, for the next or a future version of the FM, that we be able to sort columns by their header (e.g on the Units tab, be able to sort Available Units by Name, Type, Task, etc). Not a massive change, but I think it would be most useful. Edit 1 Also, I just noticed that no models load for the "Other" faction in 0930. Can we get it so all models load for this faction; it makes mercenary forces possible to create! Edit 2 (I just noticed we can select multiple factions via checkbox, that sort of works!) Edit 3 As I play around, I notice more... Anyway, can we get the option to rename squads, and ideally indivual models as well? -Dave Edited August 26, 2015 by dispatchdave

We worked really hard on those tools and we're tickled the public finds it useful. !) There is no way to flag models as owned. As this is an internal tool, which Jon has so gragiously allowed the public access to, such minutia didn't make the list of features. Sharing of model files is as easy as sending the model file to whomever. Just be sure to put the model files in the Models/User folder. The Official folder is for official models that ship with the program. Thank you kindly, Chris Edited August 26, 2015 by CAVBOSS

SB Glad you like the program. While the program may enforce rules for construction, adding any notes for rules is not going to be included with the program. The furthest we've gone is to list the page numbers for Upgrades in a force. I've been talking about expanding that to all SA's, but we haven't worked out weather it's going to be more time than it's worth. Space was a premium and pics were the first item to go out the window to maximize the space for all the lovely stats. As for telling how much damage a model has taken, using a 12 sided die next to the models to represent the damage track is a simple and clean way to get a good feel for the battlefield. !)
