*struggles to open the door, pushing aside the mountain of pamphlets for invitation into House Procrastius* Yeah yeah, I know it's been a long time since I've posted. Hallowe'en and Christmas were busier than I expected, and it's quite difficult to get back into a routine. I managed to get some priming done before my hiatus:

This time around I used Duplicolor Grey Sandable Primer since I heard that P3 spray primer is just a relabeled version, and I have to say....... I'm rather impressed. It comes out as a mist rather than a spray, so it requires some technique to get it on evenly, but it keeps the details incredibly crisp. The only bad thing I noticed about it was that it slightly pulled away from the tips of the armour studs, but otherwise it covered beautifully and shouldn't cause any issues. I can't emphasize enough, though, that you really do have to shake the can vigorously for at least a minute, and repeat if you're using it for an extended period of time. Going to try a few different painting techniques if I can and see how this particular miniature compares to its twin.

Alright, just a quick update:

Finally managed to put some brush to mini and painted some Citadel Mephiston Red on him, as I did with the previous kobolds. This time I tried Reaper Brown Wash; it seemed to come out darker than the black wash did, though it might be because I didn't dilute it enough or slopping too much on due to impatience. I tried correcting it by doing something I've never done before: I tried drybrushing. I used top-down strokes and found that the technique is actually pretty easy as long as you have the right amount of paint trapped in the bristles. On the second try I put on on a bit too much paint on the top of his head, but I think I fixed it pretty well. Not worried about the messy paint job, since I'll be covering it up with other colours. Also used Reaper Pure Black on the spear tip for when I try some metallic paint on it.Onto the hauberk next!
