Marvin
I caught up on The Expanse but haven't hit season 4 here on Prime yet. Dang good show, buddy. After that I finally watched the reimagined Battlestar Galactica from start to finish. Both overrated and underrated, if such is possible. Rewatched Episodes. Such a fantastic show. Matt LeBlanc was perfect. Rewatched Altered Carbon. Still fantastic, if convoluted. Watched the first episode of Babylon 5. Gonna be honest: not sure I can hack it. Aaaaaaand I binged The Witcher this weekend. I thought it was pretty great. I'm practically having withdrawals now that it's over lol. Not perfect by any means, but it's fantasy TV like it ought to be done. Swords and sorcery. Long plot threads and immediate danger. Heroes and monsters. Coming in with a v. limited knowledge of the series makes it a bit confusing, I think, with the way they just kind of cold-opened, and I feel like the three timelines are disorienting at first. Once I sorted that I was good to go. Henry Cavill is great as Geralt.

It gets off to a slow start, but boy is the payoff worth it.
Kangaroorex
@Marvin thanks for the review on whitcher. I've been looking at that and been considering (sort of like the game , I have heard that the game is great but the interface is darn near impossible at times) watching it but not had much to go on. Your recommendation should get me to give it a try! I have had really good luck with Netflix shows so far (altered carbon, Magmell, aggregsuko, and lots of others) what I have really liked is the willingness to explore plots other than basic lust/romance and sitcom which seems to be the only thing on network tv at the moment. As for Babylon 5, I agree with @redambrosia the plot starts a little slow because there is a lot of backstory to fill and a lot of setup, but I found the payoff worth it as well.

The casting of the commoners and the Witcher is excellent, as are the fight scenes and monster cgi/makeup. But the casting, scripts and realisation of the nobility is awful, they look like they've just walked out of a Bud Lite commercial 'Dilly Dilly', it's so bad that it almost ruined the show for me
Citrine
We'd just finished watching 'World War II in Color' on Netflix, it was excellent! We learned something new every episode.

Also Commander Whathisface is so stiff. I understand the challenges he was going through at the time, but his performance really brought the show down a lot. Season 2 really picks up with the new captain (Bruce Tronface).
Chrome
The Witcher was great. Best thing to come out of Netflix in a long time. (At least for dramas.)
kristof65
I just finished up season 4 of the Expanse last night - that was awesome. We need more sci-fi on TV like that.
aku-chan
Currently enjoying the new BBC adaption of A Christmas Carol (doesn't quite beat the Muppet version though). Hopefully tonight's final episode holds up.

If you had trouble with that episode you definitely shouldn't watch the original pilot. The makeup and everything else was much worse. It's probably my favourite series of all time Season 1 and 5 are decent but more of a "problem of the week" style show than what we get nowadays. Seasons 2-4 have that plus all the seperate storylines start to converge in awesomeness. Have been watching Into the Badlands lately. Didn't know a thing about it before starting other than it had over the top martial arts fights (which I like at times). So far enjoying it and half way through the 2 season. A bit of a convaluted story about post apocalyptic "Barons" who've somehow banned gunpowder tech fighting and haggling over territory in a large area called the Badlands. Strange part to me is that with that name the badlands seems to be the main bastion of something resembling civilization.
Evilhalfling
I'm watching expanse, but this was my least favorite of the books. the next one is so much better. I understand that Amazon bought it from Sci-Fi and that a 5th season was kinda planned. I hopes its doing well enough to become a reality. I loved B5 back in the day, but its CGI is a real leap of faith. the first season has way too much monster of the week. Shows were designed to be shuffled endlessly into re-runs, where the expanse is meant to be watched as a binge. you cant really skip anything. b5 was head of its time for arcs, but still had some standalone pressure: B5 season 1 I would watch episodes 1,6,8,13, 20 and 22. I'm a big fan of skipping through old series. Edited December 24, 2019 by Evilhalfling

It really feels like the golden age of streaming is dead.
