mwhowell2001
I am torn. I am ready to place an order for dwarf warriors for the army I am working on when I noticed that I can purchase either a single mini or a 9 pack. I am building my first army and can't decide which would look better when on the table....an army with a lot of uniform troops all looking the same or a variety of troops in difference poses. What do you guys think? Here are the product numbers if anybody wants to see. Individual Dwarf warrior-14353 Dwarf Warrior 9 pack-06117
Bonwirn
How many are you going to get? Do you need 9 of them? You can always order from the Bone Yard one of each of the warriors from 06117 for $17.21 to have a few different figures. Personally, I like to have a different look to the rank and file troops to help break up the look. Fielding 8 of the same model doesn't look as appealing as fielding 3 of position A, 3 of position B, and 2 of position C...
mwhowell2001
I plan on either fielding all 9 for the time being until I learn the ropes better and how different pieces play together. My daughter is also interested in playing and figured I can always pass extra pieces to her. Thanks for your feedback. Do you use a similar color scheme to promote a "uniform" feel to the different posed units?
scorpio616
I'd go with the cheaper 77011: Fulumbar, Dwarf Warrior ($1.99) Using beard colour, subtle weapon / armor mods and variations in basing to differentiate models. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/dwarf/sku-down/77011 I
mwhowell2001
I did consider that a little bit but I prefer the look of the other minis. The weapons and armor on those fit my tastes a bit more. I have thought about getting one of those to paint as a desktop decoration in my office though. It would look good beside the Space Marine Dreadnaught and Skeletal Archer.
Heisler
06117 will provide plenty of variety. Three different minis with three of the weapon and three of the shield sprues will provide you a consistent look along with a little variety to mix things up a bit. EvilJames
Also Fulumbar is a captain for the same side. That might cause some confusion should he need Fulumbar's captaining talents.

Ah, IMHO he makes a great troop as he has plenty of points to vary while keeping overall uniformity. Now Dain Deepaxe, he looks like a HQ unit. mwhowell2001
I didn't realize he was a captain. I picked Gargram to start with (really like his look) and promptly quit paying the leaders any attention for the time being. What elite would you guys recommend? I know I want a spell caster of some sorts but can't decide which. They all look cool and I feel like a kid in a candy store.
Qwyksilver
Are you picking models for appearance or game play?

mwhowell2001
Appearances for now. I have always learned games the best when I play them. After I get familiar with the mechanics I'll start looking at gameplay more. I like that mini, I see a lot of potential there.
mwhowell2001
What do you guys think about the heals in Warlord? How significant is it to be able to heal troops? I have played other games where things like heals or regeneration effects were easily overcome so would like any feedback. Qwyksilver
I don't think I have ever spent spell points healing soldiers. Elites, Solos and Leaders, yes. Soldiers, no.
Inarah
Do you want to paint 9 of the same model over and over again, or do you need to mix it up a little to save your sanity?
